I would always rather pay for a warranty that I never have to use, than buy a thing that requires a warranty claim, especially a PC!

So, can anyone help me?

I have a new ACER Aspire TC-1785 I7 desktop for business, and the green audio output has stopped working; which i use for powered desktop speakers.

Audio still works via HDMI to the monitor.

After having done all the obvious trouble shooting, ACER suggest I factory reset my PC to see "if that fixes the problem".

Resulting in me losing another 2 days reloading software, settings, devices, yada, yada, yada!

It might NOT fix the problem.

Any hints!?

My previous PC (now dead) is why I am again mr-happy-pants, and not Gee-Emm. Another 1st world problem.

There's an option to reset the PC and retain all software and content.

Oooh! That's good news!

How do I do that?

I can look that up, I'm sure.

ACER support obviously missed that lecture.

ACER suggest a hardware reset, not Windows 11 reset.

Does that make a difference?

Problem fixed! It took 3 hours of effing around.

It seems if I deselect audio enhancements, the 3.5mm audio output works again.

Dunno what turned it on...

Just imagine if I lost another 2 days... when I didn't need to!🥴

We now return you to normal duties. 🥸

These things can be so annoying.  Last week in my HT room, whilst watching a 4K movie I turned on the option of 4K Enhanced to see what it did.  A few days later I sat down to watch some free to air tv - and no audio!  Fault finding took me about 2 hours, until I flicked off the 4K enhanced option.
