Monzaman356
I just bought a cheap suitcase record player from a thrift store for 12 bucks. I took it apart because it had no sound, which led to me cutting the wires on the speaker transformer and completely removing it. I tried to strip the wires in effort to resolder them back together after realizing what I had done was stupid, and after trying to strip the wires with dull rusty pliers I ended up ripping out one of the leads to the transformer. Now the question is, what type of transformer is this. I looked up the record player and there is no info about the inner workings of it anywhere, it says it's a Carron tone model 6000, presumably it's from the 60's. I have no idea what the speaker is rated for voltage wise, as I never thought to test the leads going to it.
aussievintage
If it's a speaker transformer, you can figure out what you need by knowing the output valve type and circuit, and the speaker impedance. It's about matching the impedance of the output of the valve to that speaker. Voltage is not really a concern, most valve speaker transformers will handle the HT voltages involved.
