SixCats Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Hi all, well, I purchased a circa 2006 Pioneer VSX-516 AV Receiver (sans the remote) in PRISTINE condition today at a local "Thrift Shop" for lol, $3.38 I mean, heck, how could I pass up a chance to mess around/playing with this Pioneer unit for $3.38 ? Once home, I hooked up the Amp to a pair of Minimus 7's (which I use as "test Speakers") plugged into the (Stereo only) connections. I care not about all the other (to me) needless connections/features of an old AV type Amp. Since this unit has some sort of weird type of FM Antenna connection, I opted instead to just grab a nearby/handy FM (Onkyo) Tuner and plug it in to the Amp's CD RCA inputs. After a bit of trial and error, I finally figured out (more or less) how this AV (digital) unit operates and I was finally rewarded with FM Music. The Pioneer appears to be fully functional and the sound isn't half bad! That being said, this Amp will no doubt join the PILE of other inexpensive AV Amps I've purchased (on the cheap for fun). I suppose later, I will sell all the AV Amps at a BLOW OUT Yard Sale. I have little doubt I suffer from OCD (buying old Audio Gear on the cheap for fun). My being retired, these (read cheap) type of finds gives me something to do with my spare time. It's all fun and games! https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pio/pe/images/portal/cit_3424/299867016VSX-516.pdf Regards, SixCats! aka Tom in Maine, U.S.A. 5

I swear, I too had to do a "double take" when I saw the sticker price of $4.00 (four dollars). Today however happened to be "Senior discount day" and (my being a Senior) paid (after Tax) a grand total of $3.38 lol. I'm amazed at the pristine condition of this nearly twenty year old Pioneer unit. Ooh Snoopy (on a side note) back in the day (early to mid 1980's) I was a student of a very well known "Comedy Improv" Workshop in Beverly Hills, CA. One of my fellow Class mates was "Jill Schulz" the lovely/sweet little Blond Headed daughter of Charles Schulz of Peanuts fame. Jill was a complete sweetheart! I've always been very fond of Jill.
