catman Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 G'day all, I guess that this all part of the 'human experience' per se, but it is sad when former friends and allegiances change and/or end. Sadly this appears to be happening with Elliott Sound Products. I have long been a fan of Elliott Sound Products designs and also of the man himself, Rod Elliott, but sadly a couple of mostly technical differences and matters has arisen in recent times that have somewhat soured my former admiration for ESP. I still regard his designs as of superb quality and technically brilliant, but for various reasons, I will no longer have anything to do with any ESP designs. It has been a great ride, but unless something changes for the better, that is sadly the end for me and ESP. Sorry Rod. Regards. Felix. 1

Aah, Felix ... you should be more like me! My daughter continually tells me that I am so strange - because I have no friends! (Looking on "the bright side of life" ... this means I can't lose any! ) 1 hour ago, catman said: Sadly this appears to be happening with Elliott Sound Products. Ihearmusic Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Sounds like a personal matter. The fault could be on both sides as is usually the case but both parties like to be ignorant of that little fact. Any way, change is pretty much a certainty in this live just like the rest of the usual suspects like death and taxes. Have a fine day 1
catman Posted June 11, 2024 Author Posted June 11, 2024 G'day mate, well in a few words I used to regard Rod as technically faultless, however I've now realised that he is not, at least on some technical matters anyway. That is the 'main' issue. Felix.

Grimmie Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 (edited) Are you sure Mr Cat that it isn't your new opinion of Rod that is faulty. Maybe how you used to view him and his expertise was actually incorrect he WAS flawed even though you considered him pedestal-mounted perfect. Now he has altered his status to actually god-like perfection and you, unfortunately have got it wrong, can't see it. Edited June 12, 2024 by Grimmie

Hey - just a thought - perhaps expand on your specific concerns - ie did you have poor service- technically incorrect work? - something serious - would it lead you to not recommend others use him - I’m quite confused (and don’t know the person from a bar of soap or what he does) - but the above comments seem quite open ended - is it fair in the person/business to raise public doubts in your post without a bit more context? I personally fully support you outlining a genuine issue but best to be a little clearer on what is wrong I think - it all seems a bit strange 1
Grimmie Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 I'm with you there @Andythiing except maybe not go into detail. After all, mud-slinging and it's sticky after effects can be unfair if, as I alluded to @catman has it wrong. 1

Yep - I didn’t mean specifics - just a pointer to what the actual issue - unresolved fix and unsatisfactory response to efforts to resolve? 1
audiofeline Posted June 17, 2024 Posted June 17, 2024 Sad to hear you have fallen-out with Rod, Felix. You have been a champion of his work for a long time, and I feel the loss and sadness in your words. It seems like there are a few specific differences of opinion. It is very unusual to find someone who you agree with everything. But does a few differences need to over-ride everything in an all-or-nothing manner? Would it be possible to agree to differ on these matters, but still share your common ground? And having differences with someone's opinion isn't always a bad thing. It can get us to re-evaluate our position, and to look at a situation in a way that we wouldn't have before. It doesn't mean always changing to the other person's position, but it can lead to a shift in our own position, which is growth. 1
