Siemens Halske 7DJ8 PCC88  1970's tubes. These tubes use the same grey shield and large halo getter construction as the Telefunken 7DJ8's. In fact these same tubes were sold as Telefunkens from the 1970's onwards although they are not totally identical in sound to the Tele's (go figure).

In terms of sound these tubes very energetic with well defined bass and great detail.

In my system, the Siemens tends to have really good upper midrange frequency energy and very good ambient retrieval. They are noticeably different to the 6DJ8 Siemens variants that I have tried in my preamp with fatter bass and slightly smoother through the midrange and treble.

The 7DJ8 / PCC88 is a 7volt tube which can be a drop in replacement for 6V 9pin tubes (6922, 6DJ8s etc) in most equipment. They tend to last longer in devices that drive tubes hard and they (to my ears) have a slightly more relaxed sound than their 6DJ8 equivalents.

Whilst these tubes are not as sought after as the CCA's, but they will suit systems looking for a slightly less lit-up mid and upper frequency range whilst maintaining the more exciting aspects of the Siemens type of Tubes.

Writing is quite worn on these tubes. I have put 30 mins on these to test them for noise.
