Price drop: retro-thermionic - “Clarity II”, SS power amp.

Recommended Posts

Further Information: Building on the great success of the original “Clarity” amp with it’s JLM Class AB brds. Clarity II was constructed. Same brds. but very different form factor. External PS was built around parts on hand to keep costs down but the amp section was engineered from scratch. The amp sits on three large brass cones.

The PS has a high currently transformer, fast soft recovery diodes and four Nippon Chemi-con caps. The caps are snubbed to ensure a dead quiet PS. The amp will deliver 80W into 8ohms and under normal use runs very cool. A 10A umbilical cord connects to the back of the amp via a XLR plug and socket.

Very heavy duty three way speaker binding post provide a firm connection to speakers and the upmarket RCAs are palladium plated. The amp is smart looking and compact and the PS a little retro and together they make beautiful music.

This build and the original Clarity have a transparent, super clean sound with a tight grip on bass. The transistors throughout the amp are bipolar and exhibit a bright open sound with sparkling highs. My super tweeters really get a workout here. Bass is solid down to 30hZ with some output at 25hZ below the limit of my woofers. Postage is included, happy to demo and a life time warranty of free labour which is transferable. Damage though is not covered.
