Further Information

I recently purchased the paragon from the original owners. It was manufactured in 1976. I have 3 pairs of JBL speakers and don't have the room to do the paragon justice. I have the original owners manual etc. The LE15A woofers have had the suspension replaced by Queensland speaker repairs. All other components are in excellent condition and are working as they should. An inspection and audition is welcomed. Thanks for viewing.

I did some quick sums in my head ... contemplated furniture removalists, and my desire to own such an icon in audio history.

Alas, the time is not now. My time will come.

Instrol had a second shop in Manly Corso back in the 80's which had a this massive JBL driven by Fuzz Linear 700's, one Saturday morning they took it out into the middle of the Corso and filled the Corso with sound from the Darley Rd (Church end) to the beach end (Steyne Hotel), it was something to hear https://tinyurl.com/2cmp3oyh

I saw same pair of speakers at second hand shop in Fukuoka last month selling for ~A$35k+ . Given that, asking $30k for it seems very good price.  GLWTS.

I know exactly the area you are talking about, as I used to hangout there when I was a young man. I may revisit there when I am back in Sydney.

If you take the plunge I am willing to pick it up for you and store it in my listening room just because it’s you Marc. In a few years ( or maybe a decade) if you organise your removalist I’ll even give them a hand to load it in the truck.

This is the way furniture should sound!

Strictly no pot plants nor scented candles permitted on top of that credenza! 😉

Awesome 😊

There's one in Melbourne (probably more).

In America during its golden age of motion picture theatres, Industrial-cabinetted versions were used as behind-the-screen Centre speakers, as the diffusion pattern provided an even spread of sound over a large area.

Even grand auditorium-sized churches used them as their incognito PA system as in this picture.

Thanks very much for the interesting information.  By the way all of the drivers use alnico magnet structures. I am currently powering the paragon with  6A3 power amp. 3.5 watts with great results.
