John N Posted April 1 Posted April 1 (edited) Further Information: For sale is my Technics New Class A SU-V6 Amp 70wpc into 8 ohms that l purchased new from Tivoli Hi Fi back in 1980 or there abouts it is in excellent condition and has been in storage for over 20 + years. this Amp has been described as from the golden era of Japanese Amps and over engineered ect. I took it to Mark from Sonic Art because he did a great job upgrading my Hafler DH220 and he did a complete resto recap using much higher grade caps ect will attach list. This some of what Mark had to say about after a couple of hours running. "Got the meters reading zero dc, so that's a win with the better pots. 1mv variance when cracking the volume up full, can't get better then that! even on phono there is barely any dc movement, it's as good as you get from a modern amp" "the amp sounds excellent, very transparent, detailed and musical, forums say its bright but the new caps are no way bright, you could have this a TT and cd player and easily live with it." Technics SU-V6 - Work Done By Sonic Art and comments. "Amp has been cleaned inside and out, all pots cleaned, all switches checked and cleaned where needed. Main power supply caps have been replaced with quality Kemet caps, slightly larger capacity. Original 6A bridge rectifiers have been replaced with vishay 10A bridges. All electrolytic caps on the main supply board replaced with Panasonic low ESR. All electrolytic caps on the input/phono board replaced with Nichicon FG. Bipolar caps in tone circuit replaced with Wima film. DC offset pots difficult to adjust accurately so were replaced with quality sealed pots. Bias and offset was set and amp was run for 2 hours then settings re-checked. This is a fantastic sounding vintage amp, detailed but not harsh, quite dynamic with plenty of power. Very enjoyable to listen to!" Edited April 2 by John N Add text 1
