Hi, Wondering if the oki Nok has any parts left

I need a plastic lid

Regards Paul

The whole thing went to heaven some time ago sorry Paul. That said mine never had a plastic lid either... I'm now a Project convert.

Amazingly ... you get what you pay for!

A 6l tank is not wide enough to clean as many LPs as shown in that ad pic.

I suspect - at that price, it is a 40kHz tank.  This means, for effective us cleaning:

  • there needs to be 1 wavelength - ie. 1.5" - between each LP
  • and between the outermost LPs and the tank sides.

IOW - one LP is fine; you may be able to fit 2 in that tank ... but you need the right thickness spacers.

I just ordered one of these. They are now $172 ($164 with coupon). I’m unsure if they still have the drying rack. Guess I’ll find out when it comes.
Reading some of the comments here, and the doubts over doing as many records at a time as specs suggest is fine for me. As my collection is still smallish, but growing, I don’t mind doing just one, or two at a time.
Fingers crossed! 🤞🏻

I made up spacers to do 2 records, I think mine was about the same price during an ebay 20% sale.

I set up a filter on mine, its left in the workshop as its noisy and bulky, so I take records to clean when needed.

Drilled and tapped some 5mm grub screws into the bracket which helps to square it up when its sitting on the side of the tub.

Good tips, Mark. Thanks.
i was considering getting some of these to better protect the labels. I’ve seen some people have issues with damage from leakage inside the spacers.

I set my water to just below the label and haven't had any issue but I'm careful when fitting and removing vinyl.

I am still considering one of these.....although I suspect glue cleaning is hard to beat.

Please let us know how it performs after it arrives Scott.👍

From the picture it looks like you can also use it to brew a cup of tea in the water while you wait (put tea leaves in the mesh container and dangle in the water).

Not brave😆, it's just like Revirginizer.....I have cleaned probably 300+ LP's this way and never had an issue. Pristine clean results.

This is the good gear. I used to get Officeworks brand clear gum but this stuff is better and I can get it at my local office supplier. Doesn't dry as 'brittle' and peels off even better than the Officeworks stuff.

I'm curious.

Any dust cleaned off the surface of the record ... is irrelevant; you need to get the cleaning liquid down into the grooves, for it do any worthwhile 'cleaning'.

From handling PVA wood glue ... I can't see how it can do this (too viscous).

I don't use PVA glue and wouldn't.....I use craft clear gum, as the photo suggests.

I think we've had this discussion before Andy😉.....where I said something to the effect of 'how could it not get into grooves whose depth is measured in microns?'.

It has a quite low viscosity and is massaged into the grooves so it definitely gets in. I can confidently assure you my records end up 'pristine clean' after glue treatment.

The improvement in SQ on some LP's is phenomenal.👌 Although I just glue clean everything that arrives now, including brand new records.

This latest brand craft clear gum that I get is very close to Revirginiser in it's properties.....so it's hard to go wrong.👍

I think the craft glue is less viscous than PVA.  I've never tried it, so can't speak from experience.
Maybe the best way to use it is to use a brush with soft but firm bristles to ensure the glue gets to the bottom of the groove - it would make the brush single-session use only though.

Massaging is best....as you say, brushes would be restricted to single use.....although you could wash them out, the craft gum is water soluble.....but no, massaging it in is the go.
