Hi, I have been using Oppo Media centre on both my IPad and Samsung phone for years.  I have all my FLAC files stored on a USB drive connected to the rear USB slot.  Last week, via my IPAD, the app struggled to open my music USB drive, and when it did, each folder had an error, it simply would not play any FLAC or MP3 file.  I then tried to open up the app on my new Samsung phone, and found that it no longer exists on google play.   And now, on the IPAD, i do not have any media source in the list, not a single source.

any suggestions

Oppo app has not been updated for many years and both google and apple remove apps that are without support for security reasons. Oppo stopped developing and updating software and firmware for all of the player models. Get a dedicated streamer or media centre - heaps of options out there with much better performance and features than Oppo.

Thanks, I have done a bit of google searching.  Strange though how everything was working fine two weeks ago.

feel free to offer some suggestions, I am a bit of a novice with some nice gear.  I like simple.

i really only use the oppo as a cd player, it still works fine, but mainly to play FLAC files, and MP3 via a USB drive.  I use to stream via a WD NAS, but since I upgraded to a Synology, I have not been able to get that to work, so I moved to USB.

so feel free to provide me some options.  Do these options work through the oppo, or replace the Oppo.

thanks

I'm surprised you can't make use of the Synology NAS for your streaming.

I've been using one for that purpose for over a dozen years now and haven't had any problems with the NAS or the Synology DS Audio App.  I had the DS211j for 8 years and currently running a DS119j.

We use it with the Cambridge Audio Bluray player (similar to Oppo BDP-105), Marantz AVR, Sangean WFT-3D, Wintal DAB22COM and various phones and other portable devices.

I can't recall off the top of my head what setting up I had to do, but I can check and give you some info if you want to look into it.

Thanks, that would be great, I have the Ds218J.  I use to be able to see it in the OPPO app, but could not access the folders.  But now, I cannot even see it.
I may even try deleting the app, and reloading it, as it is still available in the Apple App Store, just not the Google Play store

I am somewhat surprised that the Oppo Media Control can still run up until recently.

Very unlikely that it can be made to work again.  But hard to suggest an alternative to the Oppo without knowing your music chain? Oppo 103/105 connected via HDMI to AVR?  Or are you using the Oppo analogue outputs to something else?  And what is your budget?

budget - everything was working fine 2 weeks ago.  And I am not sure what the solution is.

oppo 105, Hi Fi only, used as a CD player, and Dac for my FLAC files via USB drive (not computer USB) I luv CD ‘s but FLAC on USB drive is so much easier, have just put all my CD’s in the garage).  Oppo 105 then connects via digital and Analog to my 2 channel amp.  I can choose which DAC I use.

wondering if I can plug a streamer into the oppo, and will the oppo automatically pick up the input, or do I need to replace the lot.

Count your blessings that it has been working for so long.  It is not possible to, guess from afar, what has changed...

Continue using the Oppo as a CD player.  But you will need a streamer to read the files and send to your DAC.  This is one relatively cheap way

I logged onto the DiskStation and had a look around, but I'm not sure that there's much I can offer.  From memory, it already had the 'music', 'photo' and 'video' shared folders on the drive, ready to load the files onto, and I don't remember needing to change any settings in Media Centre or any other app, but it is a few years ago now.

The only thing I remember fiddling around with was the DMA compatibility, audio conversion options to try and play my FLAC files on the old Sangean WFT-1D.

Are there settings in the Oppo app for entering a user account name and password for the NAS?

My situation is not quite the same as yours, as the CA 751BD does not have a dedicated iOS or Android App for control.
I can't use the Synology DS Audio App with that player either, as it doesn't show up on the list of players.
When streaming using my CA BluRay player, I need to use the players remote and TV screen to navigate the NAS.

When streaming using the Marantz AVR, which is a much newer device, I can use the Marantz App, HEOS App, or the DS Audio App for control.

Thanks all.  Looks like my Oppo is just a CD player now.  I might start looking at a streamer, so you might see another post pop after, after I do some more searching.  I might plug the Oppo into a screen and see if I can select auto switching for inputs, so it automatically selects the input where the source is coming from, I can then buy a cheaper streamer without a DAC, or I may go down the path of a reasonably priced Streamer such as the Cambridge Audio CXN 1000, sub $2k price band.

i will do some research.  Who knows, a new streamer may even connect to my Disk station.

The OPPO is still available on the Apple App store.

Check the USB stick you use on the OPPO on a PC to see if its the stick thats gone faulty

Ive had this issue with there supplied USB dongle where it would not see the dongle on power on.  Those USB slots used by OPPO do not connect well.  if you have a stick that has weight on it it will fall out and disconnect.  Try another USB slot on the OPPO to see if it connects.  if this is the case use a USB adapter to connect the stick so it takes the weight of the stick to ensure a positive connection.  Even just trying to connect and reconnect the stick with the power off should cleaned the connection out and may work.

Thanks A2M.  I think I have some bigger problems.  I only noticed that there was an issue with the app when I upgraded Samsung phones, all of a sudden, the app did not work at all, and I could not download it.  Then I tried the Apple iPad, which worked for a days or to, but slowly started not to work.  The USB SSD was connected via a cable, I have plugged it in elsewhere and it works fine.
I started playing with the OPPO, using PC audio and J RiVER, and seeing if the Oppo would automatically select the input source, and noticed that the digital out was not working on the OPPO, and then noticed that the analog out was only working on the left side, swapped lots of things around and isolated it to the Oppo.  I did a factory reset, set it all back up again, and still the same problem.  So I reckon I have bigger problems, the app does not work, the digital output does not work, and the two channel analog does not work.  The front two channels in the seven Chanel output works fine, however is missing significant detail in some songs.  So the Oppo is not even much of a CD player anymore.  Not sure what has happened, but everything worked fine two weeks ago.  Not sure if it is worth getting fixed, or even looked at.  I figure if I do buy some type of streamer, I can always add in a CD transport.  Not 100% sure.  Do you think the OPpo is worth getting inspected at $100, then I am guessing several hundred bucks to fix

Sorry to hear that,  id leave it up to you to decide on repairs.   you do not have to spend big for a streamer, if you search on these pages youll probably see that there are some cost effective streamers that will fit the bill.   I have the 105,  if that fails id be looking at a streamer or use a macbook pro.

I wonder if someone can suggest me the best way to stream to my oppo 105 from my Android phone /tablet. The WiFi  adapter is slow and keep dropping  connection..I think I  can replace  it with a modern generic one? I can also connect to my asus modem via ethernet

I also need an app to access the oppo and an external  storage drive with my music..

Any suggestions? Thanks

The Oppo AP is no longer supported, and you may find it has been removed from the App Store and play store.  I am not aware of any other app to use.  You could try plugging a small monitor into your OPPO and use the remote.

In April this year, I upgraded my Samsung phone and found that the OPPO app was no longer available.  At the same time, the Oppo app on my IPad became glitchy and stopped working.  I then started to use a monitor, however I then started having several hardware issues with the Oppo, so it found its way to the dump.  Strange thing was, it all started happening at once.

No app available... how can I connect it via Ethernet to my router and stream from my phone perhaps using spotify?

I'll then use a monitor to access the external usb driver I guess..

You are wasting your time trying to get a phone app to use with the 105 (from a 103 owner for 15 years, now doing only SACD rips).  The old Oppo App, when it was working, was poor.

Much better to get a used BlueSound Node N130 or a new Node Nano, with proper music library management and a phone app which is easy to use and well supported.

Yep.. I  agreeI ..I still want to use the internal dac as my 105 is a jlti stage 3 modded and sounds very good indeed,  I use streaming occasionally, therefore I'm not in the mood of spending for the bluesound... perhaps a second hand unit later on..

I'm organising my library ( 400 cds ) into flac and external usb.  I think I can still control that via tv or monitor via the remote.. thx

you had me worried,  got onto the app and it wouldn’t see it.   Then I realised that ABB was down for 6-9hrs yesterday followed by an electrical grid blackout.  Switched on the Wifi and there it is.  Mind you this is a work issued iPhone SE with the latest IOS 17 FW.

You can still use the Node Nano to output USB to the 105, read the external drive.  Just ignore the streaming part.
