I was hoping to track down a NOS ZYX cartridge (with a boron cantilever) in Japan while on a family holiday.  Also hoping to find a store with some good second hand records (pre digital recordings) in Tokyo, Kyoto or Osaka.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Shimokitazawa is a great place to visit in Tokyo as it has something for everyone in the family, but there are a quite a pack of record stores in a fairly localised area (however some are closed on certain weekdays - check beforehand). Haven't been to Osaka and Kyoto much myself in the past (but will be there in less than 2 weeks' time). Of course plenty of Disk Union stores dotted round the place with large selections of pre-loved. Check out the renovated Tower Records in Tokyo, it now has 100,000 records!

Thanks. Is there a particular page to look at? 2398 pages is impressive for a thread.

hey @PKay if you hover the mouse over the 'grey banner' area in each link i posted....i.e. where i've highlighted in the example below....it *should* take you directly to the actual post.  I agree the way the link works is not intuitive.

However, if that doesnae work then

Plan B - keyword search the thread for Shimokitazawa, and then also for Shinjuku

Plan C - manually page back through the thread to top of page 1401 for my 'Part 1' writeup and near bottom of page 1406 for Part 2

@PKay a few of (my) takeaways from the couple of half days crate diggin

recommended to ask the counter staff to open EVERY vinyl you want to purchase.  I rejected at least one of each batch i took the counter due to condition being way below the grading.  Their lowest grading ('B') is however often VG+ in the Goldmine Records grading, but sometimes G+/VG so visually inspect everything at the sales counter.  'Trust but verify' 😎

there is good value IMO in more common / non collectible 70s 80s type stuff it's that's your bag (it is mine) and i picked up some at 800-1000 yen each that i was very happy with...Chaka Khan, Quincy Jones, etc

rare and collectibles are priced sky high.  I posted a couple of pictures on page 1406 of that thread
