Will POE cables for security cameras add noise

Had alot of trouble around my area lately and need some cameras

Will adding some cameras  with poe   affect  this?

Or will they be ok on a seperate switch

Actually no, galvanic isolation is bypassed with POE, even UTP cable.

 

There is power on the secondary side of transformer, hence isolation is defeated.

 

POE cameras won't add noise to audio system.

 

But was worth understanding the below when I had a POE powered networked DAC (Ravenna).

The key point was that OP was setting up a secondary dedicated PoE switch. Provided an unshielded cable, or a fibre connection is used between the PoE switch and its upstream connection (to other switch or router), then galvanic isolation will provide a noise barrier.

I was thinking of a second switch with the poe  ? or 

i like the idea of 1 for the lot with a iec power in   not a  wallwart power supply

With hifi cables im good 

But these different types of ethernet cables  got me  confused

My main rig's DAC is fed by a PoE powered RPi running Ropieee. I can bring a -120dBFS test track up to audibility.

 

The PoE switch also feeds 8 PoE cameras and a couple of other PoE devices.

 

There's nothing to worry about.

I run both a HP J9773A Aruba 2530-24G PoE+ switch and run a Renolabs Ultimate Audio switch off of that with all my Hi-Fi streamers off of that. I've found the HP switch beneficial despite providing POE to my TP-Link OC200 controller and EAP772 mesh access points. The biggest advantage is VLAN support. I run port based VLAN's from a Firewalla Gold with IoT traffic tagged as VLAN 7. All else is untagged.

This allows me to set some very basic QoS rules which means my Roon ROCK which is on a fixed IP (192.168.127.11) gets treated as mission critical traffic ahead of everything else on the network, and IoT traffic is relegated as low as it can go. I also needed to enabled IGMP as Roon is unreliable with this off.

I've gone further with this on the TP-Link OC200 controller/EAP772's once more where IoT devices have been set to not be able to talk to any thing else on the network by configuring it as a guest network, just internet access and each device has a maximum bandwidth of 6.5mbps.

 

This is all the same stuff I had previously done with opnSense on a massively overspecced opnSense box though interestingly both sonics and internet performance in general are significantly better having moved all this QoS stuff to the network edge. I guess it prevents as much network chatter without putting so much load on the router. Likewise, now being port based VLAN's rather than relying purely on VLAN tagging they no longer share a single network port on the router (now a Firewalla Gold SE) which I guess may bring some benefit.

 

Anyway, most will probably not go to this effort though I'd definitely recommend picking up a used HP J9773A. They can be had for as little as $250 used and the end result is far beyond what I was able to get with my prior TP-Link Smart Switch.
