Sixnil Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 Further Information: Pair of rare Dynaudio 20-55 speakers, vintage 1982, in like-new condition. These were originally purchased from Tivoli Hi Fi, Melbourne, in April 1982, as a part of a system comprising Yamaha CM/M4 (120w per channel) and Rega Planar 3. I have the original receipt and Instructions for use. I purchased the system in October 1982. RRP of the Dynaudios in 1982 was about $1,700. They are two-way speakers comprising an 8-inch base driver (21W54) and 1.1-inch (28mm) dome tweeter (D28AF). These drivers were amongst the first Dynaudio-branded units. They were produced by the S.E.N.-lab factory established by Sven Eris Nielsen. Cabinets are solid wood, 0.75 inches (19mm) thick. Speakers are therefore quite heavy, perhaps 30kg each. They require amplification of at least 75w per channel. I can demonstrate with Cambridge amp of 60w, but this is not optimal. Cabinets and grilles are unmarked. The speakers were bi-wired early in their life. Woofer surrounds have been professionally replaced twice, first in 1995, and more recently in 2019 (by Total Recoil). The speakers are operating perfectly. They would appear to represent a small but important part of both Danish and Australian Hi Fi history. Reluctant sale but have updated my system and these much-loved Dynaudios must go. 2
