Extra Info: This was Musical Fidelity's flagship preamp and the last of the 'Made in England' components. It retailed for at least double AFAIK. It features a military-grade 6112 valve per channel. These valves are claimed to have around 100,000 (yes, 100K) hours of life and are cheap to replace (but most likely you would never have to).

It was very favourably reviewed by Stereophile's Michael Fremer and the measurements by John Atkinson showed it as being among the very best he ever measured with an enormous power supply (said to be as powerful as a 20 watt amplifier) and he states, "The kW Hybrid has probably the highest dynamic-range capability of any preamplifier I have measured, more even than MF's own kWp..." and he finishes with "this is an extraordinary preamplifier."

The unit is heavy, large and beautifully built. Looks as new and comes with the remote control, instructions, original boxes, etc.

It sounds superb, with the Hybrid design offering a very dynamic sound (as you'd expect with that massive power supply), it's very detailedresolving but has a nice touch of warmth and body too. It has some of that midrange magic that valves can offer but has the control and power of a solid state design.

This is a stunning preamp and not seen very often in any 'For Sale' section anywhere. It may be considered a classic one day soon too. Have advertised on eBay but will negotiate a slightly better price if SNA member.
