I've just installed my first Nas, a Synology DS120j. I had to as my streamer (Linn) has no usb port. I can't seem to get past this screen in the Nas setup as I'm not sure what to fill into the admin account field. Do I make up an account name? Do I already have an account? Regardless what I fill into these fields there is no button to progress beyond this page. I'm stuck.image.png.e384daebf08ce5b4ddf1f4473a81a57e.png

AFAIK most NAS systems come with their own operating software and limited software bundles. If that is the case here you will have to rely on the Synology provided file browser for problem a) - that is to say log in to the NAS via your local computer browser to bring up the NAS GUI in your browser. If synology allows for installation of windows apps I would recommend Explorer ++

a) Transfer itself to the 2TB SSD can be performed either via copying from a USB  drive directly into the NAS - this would rely on the synology file manager

or

establishing a network link in your local PC/apple PC to the Synology. This can be either ethernet (recommended) or wifi (not recommended for large file transfer volume due to error potentials). This would rely on your local computer's file manager.

b) if all else fails trawl the synology help forum or run a reddit search 🙂

Good luck!

Enter a device name, a user name (not admin), password. A button will show up to take you to next step.

It's asking you to setup an Admin Account. So give the NAS a name, choose a name for the Admin Account, then set a password...

When I set my Synology NAS up ages ago, it was a little different, but essentially the same..

Edit: Yes, as @Snoopy8 says, chooses a different name than admin.
