I am hoping someone can guide me as to the best way to attach an Anntenna to a 1976 Yamaha tuner to get Am and fm reception. I have a tv anntenna on the roof. Can I somehow connect to that?

I have attached a photo of the back of the tuner. Thanks in advance

If your TV antenna connection is close, you could put a splitter there and run a 75 ohm lead from the left side  75 ohm input on the back of the tuner to it, or, you could make an ariel, youtube has many videos on how to.

Thanks, yes the aerial is close. I’ll try it.

Here is the connection diagram from the CT-810, which is the same.

And yes, as @wen says, you could use the TV antenna into the 75ohm socket.

Thanks, looks like I can get Fm from tv Antenna and need a separate am antenna.

From memory The AM antenna is just a length of insulated wire, but it is directional (ie, it needs to be horizontal in a particular direction for best reception).  No need for it if you don't listen to AM.

I've used a splitter on the TV antenna for the FM tuner wherever possible.  However, I do believe that there is a difference between a TV antenna and a FM radio antenna.  The TV antenna is often very good, but a dedicated FM antenna I believe gives much better reception, and could be a consideration if you live in a poor reception area and the TV option doesn't work as well as you hoped.

Thanks for the tips.
