@@mrbuzzardstubble top work keeping this thread going. There should be some kind of award for ten posts in a row. Most of your selections sail way over my head but I like that there's a pathway here to explore any time I make the time. I've been dancing with my seven year old to some African stuff:

The Indestructible Beat of Soweto (LP)

Marvelous music (must be one of the best releases of the 80s). Great rhythm, energy and transcendent joy. Doesn't matter that you don't understand a word. The English precis on the back cover are poetry in themselves.

The Rough Guide To African Disco (LP)

This 2013 is a bit more all over the place but 'A Brand New Wayo' by Mixed Grill and 'Oh Yeh Soweto' by Teaspoon & The Waves are solid gold.

Hi monty. Thanks for the compliment.I'm always learning about world music.I think it would take me two lifetimes to learn it all.So much new music being released every day. Thanks to the Songlines mag and their free disc(s) every issue,it makes it a lot easier.

I've got a cd called Next Stop Soweto on the Strut label which I've had for over two years without the seal being broken.I must pull it out and listen to it soon. Cheers.

Also from the 80s, a terrific collection of South African township music. I've had this album for many years.

Has since been reissued with different cover art, although they changed the track ordering somewhat, and omitted one track for some reason (21 tracks on my copy).
