muon* Posted November 11, 2023 Author Posted November 11, 2023 I did try Star Trek on-line for a bit, got invited to join a couple of factions but the names of them made me hesitant, one faction was called XXXp0rn, maybe not Just installed the DLC Hours Of Darkness, for something different.

Yeah , names like that gives you a big insight into the mentality of those your are playing online, with or against. There are some funny PSN user names though, my favorite is a guy who goes by "Not now Kato" 1

Used to game in Battlefield for years with my mates from work. Somehow (can’t remember how) they came up with a team name of “sexgang” 1
POV Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 I’m playing Halo Infinte at the moment on campaign, having a blast. Will try Far Cry next. 1
jgunner Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 Im a big Souls franchise fan. Have played Dark Souls 1, 3, Demon Souls and Bloodborne. Just got my hands on Sekiro yesterday. Nioh is also a favourite. The amount of dying in these games turn most people off and I've had to walk away many times. But eventually come back. the satisfaction after passing a difficult bout is most gratifying. Im weird that way. 1
muon* Posted November 16, 2023 Author Posted November 16, 2023 Went to the DLC game Hours of Darkness, based behind the lines in the Vietnam war, lot of sneaking needed. Also trying Stalker Anomaly (full download is free), that is a hard one, even with good armor and weapons you die quick!

If you want to get all the trophies, I found there are some that turn out impossible to get if 1] If you clear ALL the various camps 3 times [each time a camps enemies will respawn, but at increasing higher difficulty levels] before achieving some of the combat related trophies.....The camps won't respawn enemies after you have cleared them for the 3rd time, losing you the chance to get some trophies [unless you do another play through]. I found this out the hard way after I had cleared every camp in the game 3 times, and boy was I pissed off. 2] The Honorary Scout trophy. It requires you to talk to 10 Bean Scouts. These scouts will mark locations on your map. And if you have visited all locations or bought all the maps, they will stop appearing. So don’t buy any maps until you have the trophy.

2Brix Posted November 25, 2023 Posted November 25, 2023 Rumour has it that the developers are already quietly working on Far Cry 8 - Far Q
Tweaky Posted November 25, 2023 Posted November 25, 2023 6 hours ago, 2Brix said: Rumour has it that the developers are already quietly working on Far Cry 8 - Far Q I think you mean Far Cry 7 That's scheduled for a late 2025 release. I suppose they will flog the Far Cry horse as much as they can, just like they have with the Assassins Creed franchise. I prefer Far Cry over Assassins Creed, especially after I'd spent many many hours going for the Platinum trophy on one of series, only for the bastard of a game to glitch out on me by not allowing me to pickup a single feather inside a crypt. I swore I'd never play another Assassins Creed game again. The exact same thing has happened to me on LEGO Jurassic Park and LEGO Star Wars There are only two games I'm looking forward to. AVATAR : Frontiers of Pandora, which is released on the 7th December. Once I watched a couple of trailers of it on via my PS5 and SONY 77" A80K OLED I was sold, it looks amazing, and the game play looks like a cross between Far Cry { Not surprising as its also made by Ubisoft ] and Horizon: Forbidden West, plus there are two DLC packs confirmed for it. I like the reviewer {JorRaptor] below, as he's always fair in his assessment of games, both the good and the bad. The other game is the long awaited second part [of three parts] of the Final Fantasy 7 remake "Rebirth", which is released on 29th Feb 2024. The original PS 1 version from 1997 was one of my [and thousands of other peoples ] favorite games of all time. Boy have things gone down hill for Final Fantasy since then. I got the last Final Fantasy 16 and found it a disappointment, its on rails, with poor character development [Boring] and script, a totally uninteresting and confusing story line, and found myself basically just running from A to B passing through C fighting things along the way. When I got to a boss fight about a fifth of the way in where I fought IFRIT, and lost, and the game started to reload, I thought, stuff it, I can't be bothered, and haven't touched it since. Trust me, its a rarity for me to stop playing a game once I have started it, I'm a completest by nature and want to get all the trophies for a game. 2
Tweaky Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 (edited) JB have AVATAR: Frontiers of Pandora on Pre- order for $89, you get a additional weapon and costume , but only if you pre-order. https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/playstation-5-avatar-frontiers-of-pandora-limited-edition?queryID=3c6cdcb40d78e36965b370c8018f8bf0&objectID=653371 Games usually go up in price by $10 the day after release at JB. I usually choose to pickup in store, gives me a chance to pickup a few 4K discs while I'm at it. [Less chance for somebody to rip it off from my letterbox as well] If I'm going to get a AAA title I like to get it on Disc [call me old school] plus I refuse to pay the SONY Tax on games whenever possible. The PStore price is $109 for the same edition, it's $159 for the Gold edition [which gives you the two DLC packs when they are released] and $189 for the Ultimate edition, which as far as I can see, only gives you a added art book over the Gold edition.....hardly worth $30 more IMHO. muon* Posted November 29, 2023 Author Posted November 29, 2023 Loving going Wrath mode with the spiky bat on enemies in New Dawn
Batty Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 I played the FEAR games on PC and Crysis and Stalker. Now I play Evee Online mostly. Oh, I'm 65. 1
muon* Posted November 29, 2023 Author Posted November 29, 2023 Loved the FEAR games, and STALKER, and earlier Crysis.
muon* Posted January 3, 2024 Author Posted January 3, 2024 Stared on Far Cry 6, so far came across one very surprising mission.

I've been playing Dragons Dogma 2. I'd never heard of the game until it became a PS+ freebie one month on the PS3, I downloaded and started to play it and really enjoyed it. It took Capcom 12 years to bring out a part 2, but good things come to those that wait. It's kept it very similar to the original, but made levelling up, changing vocations, Armour and weapons a lot easier. Recommended if you want a game you can easily stick 100+ hours into if you wanted to.....single player only.
muon* Posted June 13, 2024 Author Posted June 13, 2024 "The developers recommend playing this game with a controller" Counts me out.

I've seen hundreds of YouTube videos of people playing Dragons Dogma 2 on a PC.....what they are using to play it with control wise I don't know.

Tweaky Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 5 hours ago, muon* said: Dragons Dogma 2 I suppose that recommendation by Capcon makes sense since the game was designed with controller use in mind. But I see that you can play it using a keyboard and mouse easy enough, it just entails some keys binding in the menus at the start. I've been reading that a lot of people say they can play it fine with KB+M. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/180899-dragons-dogma-dark-arisen/73323481 I imagine playing as a Archer or Mystic Archer would actually be easier using a KB+M, reasoning that the aiming would be a lot easier and more precise. https://www.gamepressure.com/newsroom/dragons-dogma-2-dd2-controller-vs-keyboard-and-mouse-explained/ze6b1e And game control layout for KB+M on PC below https://game8.co/games/Dragons-Dogma-2/archives/446404 A slightly different version below [I think mainly because unlike the one above, which was complied using a review copy prior to release, it has confirmed that button remapping is possible, which would account for the small differences] https://www.shacknews.com/article/139209/dragons-dogma-2-pc-keybindings-controls If you do decide to get DD2, I'd have a quick read a trophy guide beforehand, only because you might find you want to kick yourself because you missed something, or went to a place of no return, story wise, before you were ready. [something I nearly did, even after reading a guide, by forgetting about a certain two quests triggers a change into the end game portion ] The main thing players fall foul of is remembering where they found their first seekers medal, a collectable of which there are 220 spread all around the world [you need to know exactly where that first one was to do another important quest ]. You have place markers on the world map, I used one where I found my first, I also took a screen shot so I could confirm with the surrounding area when I had to return to it. The other easy option is to not pick any up until you get to Vernworth castle [which you do pretty early in the game] and go to the fountain, there is a seeker medal in there, so that's easy enough to remember come the time you need to return. Its a great game IMHO, some are saying it could get GOTY......I wouldn't know, I've only played a few NEW games this year, but its easily been my favorite so far. 1
muon* Posted June 14, 2024 Author Posted June 14, 2024 Assassins Creed is as far as I'm willing to go with these types of games. Will likely give up on it eventually and not finish it.
