Domza84
Its quiet interesting the Huge price increase for SVS. I had initially intended on opting for a pair of PB-2000PRO's but did infact want a pair of PB4000's, but when you consider the pricing (as indicated below) compared a pair of the Tone Winner SW-D6000's and based on them being very well reviewed with great feedback from end users, it has made my decision quiet easy with a HUGE saving attached. If I'm honest, the SVS (better models) are far out of my budget especially when looking at the PB4000's (pair) and considering my SVS PB2000 which I had purchased over 10 years ago cost me $799.00 (if I remember correctly) comparred to the current pricing it is way out of reach for most. I still enjoy my PB2000 to this day but I don't think I could spend the money on SVS at the current asking prices. Pricing comparisons (Pair of Subwoofers); SVS PB2000PRO: $4,798.00pr (RRP) / $4,318.00pr (on discount) SVS PB3000: $7,398.00pr (RRP) / $6,658.00pr (on discount) SVS PB4000: $10,998.00pr (RRP) / $9,898.00pr (on discount) SVS PB16 Ultra: $13,598.00pr (RRP) / $11,998.00pr (on discount) Tone Winner SW-D4000: $3,398.00pr (RRP) / $2,888.30pr (on discount) Tone Winner SW-D6000: $3,998.00pr (RRP) / $3,398.30pr (on discount) Tone Winner SW-D8000: $5,798.00pr (RRP) / $4,928.30pr (on discount) So as you can see from the pricing comparissons above, the SVS are priced well out of reach for most (including myself) even with the average discount applied. Seeings as though I already own a PB2000 (older model), if I were to upgrade I would want to step it up to at least the PB4000 level which would cost just shy of $10K which is not feasable for me. For me personally, I have decided on a pair of Tone Winner SW-D6000's which I think will do the job in my theatre room just fine, and even at the discount price of $3,400.00 for the pair, I think this represents great value for those who want great performance without the HUGE price tag. Anyways, I thought I would just share a simple pricing comparisson for those who were interested.

Even if I could afford it I wouldn't spend that sort of money knowing they were at least 3 times cheaper if not more some years ago. I'm happy Tonewinner came along with great prices and quality subs. My other option was to build my own subs but now Tonewinner is a great option which I will be ordering on Friday.
hopefullguy
interesting to see some opinions on the T.W. subs from potential buyers, i thought along similar lines before i got mine. i really cant find better $ per bass at the moment other than the 2nd hand market but then prices in that area have gone up as well. plus buying a 2nd hand sub can be a problem if you want 2 still need to buy one at shop price or wait and hope for another to come along. Selby may have themselves a bit of a winner with the T.W. range. due to budget i got 2x D-6000 which combined with 2 old velodyne 15" subs nearfield will be more than enough for my 4x6.5x3 2800 cubic foot room... i know because my single pb2000 original/1x vely was just enough before. haha Edited June 26 by hopefullguy

It certainly is a no brainer when it comes to price vs performance. As much as I love SVS, it simply is not viable for me given the high cost when comparred to say the Tone Winner products! I will also be opting for a pair of D6000's which if you've seen the reviews on YT they measure really well against SVS models with great SPL and in most cases do out-perform the SVS which is staggering given the HUGE price difference! My main use will be theatre use application which will be more than adequate, and will also be my first time running dual subs which I am quiet excited about. I'll be sure to report back once I have them setup and dialed in which will be a fun process.

I'm sure there are the loyal fans who will only use their preferred brands and I thought I was one of them when it came to SVS, but with the pricing comparisson between Tone Winner I simply can not justify the large outlay of $$$$ to stick with SVS. It will be a matter of time until more traction is gained with these subs with more and more people coming on board which I think a lot of people would be looking at this a great value proposition to get themselves into the market for some great gear. I would expect at some point for the price increase to come for brands such as this but as long as it is still reasonable I think a lot of us will still see the value. For me I am going to jump in now and take advantage and to also save a few bucks in the meantime. You're also correct in saying the second hand market prices have certainly increased which is where I was looking prior to seeing the Tone Winner range of Subs. I am also coming from a single PB2000 so I am looking forward to seeing what a pair of D6000's can offer in my system in my 4.5m X 5.5m room.

hopefullguy
Domza 84, dont forget to be flexible with placement. i always laugh when i see pictures of 2 subs up front, in just about all forums. once i did 1 front, 1 real nearfield i was not going back to the usual. as for those youtube vids i sort of flick thru but dont take on face value. better to read the summit hifi users who basically compare D-6000 to their pb3000's, which i believe was T.W. target. there is one review of the D-8000 from a pb-16 owner. 1

I will play around with the placement but in my room I am somewhat limited to where I can position them which will most likely end up behind my seating area. My current SVS-PB2000 is in this same position (behind the seating area) with very good results and I’m very happy with that in which it has very linear output with very good SPL. But yes, I take every thing I watch / read with a grain of salt with the actual proof being analysed once it’s in my room to make my proper evaluated report..
Domza84
I have placed my order for a single Tonewinner D6000 in which I want to evaluate and compare to my current SVS PB2000. I’m expecting a positive impact with the D6000 and am looking forward to comparing them against each other (D6000 vs PB2000). The plan is that once I’ve sold my PB2000 this will add to fund the second D6000. Due to the the extra size of the D6000 there is a bit of re-organising to do to the setup to make way for the duals but am up to the challenge. I should hopefully have it late next week and will report back with my thoughts and observations on the D6000, but yeah, I can’t wait to roll out the thunder..
geotos
The D8000 arrived today and I'm super ecstatic with it. Came in no time from Melbourne to Sydney. I ordered it on Friday and came today, Monday. Superb sound and build quality is top notch. It has a beautiful finish and looks expensive. It has nice clean bass sound. Sub works effortless and the cabinet has zero vibration. I couldn't pump it up too much as the family would go nuts, but I'll get that chance on Saturday where I'll have the house to myself for a couple of hours and I'll report back here again. Hopefully I'll have clocked up enough time to have the sub run in by then. At normal hearing levels you can feel the bass as it has a big wide presence and sounds phenomenal with music for a sub targeted more for cinema. I can only test the sub with music, so I can't give a cinema performance sound description, but I'm sure it would be insane. The D8000 with music, reminds me of that nice clean distinctive Cerwin Vega subwoofer sound which I loved back in the day which featured at lots of night clubs. The D8000 fills up the entire 6mx6m room easily. I can only imagine what it will do when I give it some stick. I left the ports open and love the bass sound coming out of it. Low pass is set at 110khz and high pass is at 12hz. That's how it came set from factory. For music it sounds great on those settings. When I use the subs for cinema later on I'll tune them as needed. In the meantime I'm using the sub for music only as I am a couple of years away from building my home cinema but bought the D8000 already because I wanted to get in at this low price in case they go up like SVS did. I'll probably buy another one around Black Friday where they'll probably be on special again, then at least I'll have my subs already bought for the home cinema but also to keep listening to music from now which is mainly electronic music, (trance, progressive, melodic techno, deep house, drum and bass, etc). For those on the fence, I recommend it!

I’m glad that you’re happy with the performance in your initial testing stages, they look like they tick all of the boxes from a performance point of view. I ordered my single D6000 (eventually to go dual) and they look great with fantastic build quality to match. When I saw them in the demonstration room the D8000 did look impressive and it was HUGE which would make a statement in any room. Have fun with it and I can’t wait to get mine setup and dialled in. Enjoy..

The D8000 looks a little weird with the ports by themselves on the front panel. But with the covers on looks fine. If I had the D6000 I would leave the cover off for looks if I knew there was no way anybody would bump into it. Good luck with the delivery and exciting times when it arrives and you start using it. Domza84
Okay, so the day finally came where I got my Tonewinner D6000 nestled into its location within my Home Theatre Room and I was eagerly excited to get it up and running to see what all the rave was about in which I thought I would provide my thoughts and impressions on this sub in the initial stages.. The first thing I would like to say is the D6000 is HUGE!! I had done some quick sizing measurements to make sure it would fit into its proposed location within my room (prior to purchase) but I wasn’t prepared for the sizeable beast of a sub the D6000 was! With some adjustments which included re-positioning my seating platform slightly forward to allow for the depth of the sub as well as a slight shuffle of the display cabinet off to the side to allow the D6000 to firm its position, once that was done I was ready to drop it in. The subwoofer position was placed behind my seating area. Once these adjustments were made, hoisting the D6000 was no easy feat with is decent mass weight in which I strained my lower bicep actioning this task of lowering the sub down behind the seating platform. Now with the sub in its permanent position, I ran the XLR connection to my Processor and connected the power cable and I was right to go. As soon as I powered it up I proceeded to connect it to the Tonewinner app which was very seamless in operation, it paired within a matter of seconds and prompted me of new available firmware which I proceeded to download. The whole process took less than a few minutes and I was up and running. (Just a note regarding the configuration of the D6000, I am using the sub in it’s open mode where by all the ports are open.) Once the sub was firmed in position I dialled in all the required settings from the user friendly app which I found to be very responsive and was very easy to understand which made for a great user experience. I was pleasantly surprised at how the D6000 performs in my room in which my previous sub (which I still own) in the way of the SVS PB2000 (non Pro early version), the D6000 sounds so effortless in its sound and has integrated with my Jamo D600 (THX Ultra2) speaker setup really well. The Jamo D600LCR/SUR can produce some really high SPL and has more than ample power driving them from my two Rotel Class AB power amplifiers which is putting out no less than 2.4kW (2,400 Watts RMS) from a 75kg amp stack so there is no shortage of power for the Jamo’s in its 5 channel configuration. Once I put the D6000 through its paces I quickly found out that it could certainly hold its own at working in unison with the Jamo D600’s, the sheer impact from the D6000 was quiet intense to say the least, they hit some impressive SPL levels and got down low when required. As it was later in the evening I still managed to get some good volume for my testing purposes but I will give it a good crack over the weekend when I’ve got the house to myself to push the boundary’s to the upper limits of output (if my ears will allow). At the lower volume level it was still very poised and more than capable at portraying proper impact specific to the material being played. The quality sound performance is also something to note, it sounds so effortless and can deliver a great amount of control even during the busy passages of movies. It’s the first large format 15” sub I’ve had and after hearing what it can do, I could never go back to a smaller variant. For the exercise, I blended in my existing SVS PB2000 and it was very well received by both subs in the room with the end goal being to retire the PB2000 in exchange for a second Tonewinner D6000 which I think will sound phenomenal based on what my experiences are with a single D6000 in my room. I also did some testing with music in which it was equally up to the task, it can certainly get low and almost has no low end boundary’s meaning that it can follow the music to the lowest frequency’s without batting an eye which I thought was very impressive. So the efforts of moving the room around to accomodate the new D6000 was certainly worth every ounce of energy it took as I am a very happy Man and can’t wait to have another play with the setup when I get home and although it’s early days, I’m looking forward to the fine tuning the setup to exert more from the system and I am glad I made the decision on the D6000 in which I am never looking back! (Please Note) I’ve added some pictures of my setup (for reference to position) which in the pics the sub(s) are located behind the seating recliners to the far left and far right outer seats. (D6000 Front) (D6000 Front - No grille) (D6000 Rear) (D6000 in location) (Front View of seating with subs placed behind outer seats) (Side view of room for relative size) Thanks for viewing..
hopefullguy
hi mate, good to hear so far so good. it is a tight fit in your room for sure and being "nearfield" the 2 subs wont need much gain/db's on avr to make them bounce you around the room. i like nearfield. big, hmmm well coming from a pb2000 original, i had 2, i guess but i have until recently had bigger haha. the 8000 pro and 9000 are getting into the "large" area. i reckon the 8000 pro is really interesting, sticking 2 d-6000's together haha. anyway yes seems the app is good and the company listened to some early users who complained of the "0" or "180" only phase adjustment, so they changed it quickly. i like the 2 small foot print recliners you have, i have 2 small recliners as well in my front row. can i ask what pj you are using for that close to screen.. 110"? Thanks Mate, I guess I’m referring to ‘big’ in reference to my room and positioning, it was a tight squeeze but managed to make it work. The things we do to get what we want, LOL! The two central recliners are motorized whilst the out two are manual operation, my Wife and I usually take centre stage so it works well for me as the kids and our little dog takes the outers.. I’m pretty happy with the app, it’s been flawless and haven’t experience any issues and have found it to be very intuitive. The projector is a JVC DLA-HD550B with a 100” screen. Cheers! Would be keen to hear your thoughts also on how your D8000 integrates into your setup.. You would have already read my first impressions further up. I'm waiting for Saturday morning to be alone to pump it up. As I said, I bought mine early without any serious home theatre setup to take advantage of the low price. I'll buy a second one probably on Black Friday. Then, in a couple of years, add the theatre to my subs, LOL. I won't have to hunt for expensive subs later, wishing I had bought the Tonewinners when they were affordable. For now, the sub is in my home studio where I have my DJ setup, Two Pioneer CDJ 3000's, Four Technics turntables, (one SL-1210 MK2, One SL-1210 MK3D and two SL-1200 MK7's), a Pioneer DJM A9 mixer and two Adam Audio T8V Studio monitor (8inch speakers). The sub works beautifully with the t8V's at normal volumes. I know the Tonewinner will out power the T8v's at loud SPL but I like the bass coming in hot. I prefer over power than under. I love bass with loud spl that goes low which this sub does. For now I'll use it for music alone and have some glorious sound to enjoy while I practice mixing new tunes before gigs. Then in a couple of years for movie theatre and music. I'll report again after Saturday when I pump the sub up on impressions. Congratulations! Looks like your experience was similar to mine with the music. Music is all I can test on for now. I agree with you that the sub does a great job with music and works effortless, goes low and has a wide presence. You're setup looks awesome! Enjoy!!!!

Sounds like a very nice music setup you have and I’m sure your new sub will have added some good dimension to your setup. I would be keen to hear your thoughts after Saturday after you’ve given them a good run. I’m sure you’ll have some good things to say about it after it’s been put through their paces.. It was also a great move to cash in early before the inevitable price rise comes into play. I was thinking about doing the same and waiting for Black Friday before purchasing another D6000. Enjoy Mate and all the best for the big day on Saturday.

I certainly did have a great experience and all went well from the setup to actually watching a movie through it. The Mrs has the theatre room at the moment so I might also have to wait until the weekend to give it some stick! I had spent some time listening to music and the D6000 is up to the task and sounds pretty impressive to say the least. My testing has been at lower to medium volume levels which it performed quiet well, but I’m hanging to push my Jamo D600 (THX U2) and the D6000 past reference to see which glass wear breaks first, LOL! Thanks for your kind word also regarding my theatre room, it’s been a work in progress but it at the stage where I’m happy with it with a few upgrades to come in the near future (second D6000, new Processor and potentially upgrading to the JVC DLA-NP5BE projector), that’s my wish list for now but will see how it goes. Cheers and enjoy..

If I had the money already, I'd have bought the two together at this last month's special price..

Depending on how good a deal pops up on Black Friday for some of the gear I want, I’ll make the decision when the time comes. At this stage a single D6000 will have to do for now but it could change sooner than later in my experience, LOL!
