~Spyne~ Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 I know the band is done to death for "audiophile" demo'ing, but I rarely see this song on any lists - Dire Straits - Across the River Rufus (du Sol) - Hypnotised / Innerbloom / I Don't Wanna Leave London Grammar - Hey Now / Wasting My Young Years I'd love to hear some Tool, just for raw guitar and drum dynamics. Maybe Parabol/Parabola Fleetwood Mac - Big Love (live, from The Dance) Bjork - Frosti Alabama Shakes - Don't Wanna Fight Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, from the Fantasia soundtrack (the 1982 re-release with Irwin Kostal and the Disney Studio Orchestra is the cleanest recording I've found that matches nicely the timing a nuances of Stokowski's original) 3
Cloth Ears Posted May 12, 2022 Posted May 12, 2022 Maybe cutting it a little fine, but... Thula Mama - Béla Fleck with Vusi Mahlasela (from Throw Down Your Heart: Tales From The Acoustic Planet, Vol. 3) There's More To Life Than This - Björk (from Debut) Public Image - Public Image Ltd (from First Issue) Small Blue Thing - Suzanne Vega (from Suzanne Vega) Funky Cold Medina - Tone Lōc (from Lōc-ed After Dark) Fever - Elvis Presley (from Elvis is Back!) Down To The Waterline - Dire Straits (from Dire Straits) 1

These aren't tracks, they are albums. You know your system works when you listen to albums. Skipping to tracks betray a problem with a system.

blybo Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 Like a lot of others here I think exhibitors need to crank some of the tunes we listen to at home, whilst also having some reference track traits to keep the exhibitors happy. Muse- The 2nd Law- Unsustainable Gotye- Making Mirrors- State of the Art Top Gun OST- Kenny Loggins- Danger Zone (just for fun and I saw Maverick last night) Fairground Attraction- The First of a Million Kisses- The Moon is Mine (for the obligatory female jazz track) Vangelis- Blade Runner OST- Love Theme (nod to our dearly departed) TOOL- Fear Inoculum- Pneuma Bjork- Post- Hyper-ballad 2
Laosman Posted May 28, 2022 Posted May 28, 2022 Jordi Savall and Hysperion XX1. The travels of Ibn Battuta. Agaetis Byrjun with Sigur Ros.
BugPowderDust Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 I'd pay a few shekels to hear someone play Holly Herndon's stellar track Frontier just to watch the absolute "WTF?" moment from the audience. A serious experimental electronic music track with Holly singing alongside Spawn, her self made Artificial Intelligence singing partner.
wiredforsound Posted June 2, 2022 Posted June 2, 2022 For my 10 cents worth: Chris Jones Long after you're gone Imelda May Black tears Jeremy Green Michael and me 1
Esoterica Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 (edited) Dunno about hifi show audition tracks, but I've been checking out some of these suggestions on my (new) Wharfedale's and I have enjoyed and found some new artists, which is always good. The Dry Cleaning sound is cool! Edited June 6, 2022 by Esoterica
BruceS Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 I am not sure about those fixed play lists. It makes me think that the host has something to hide (as I mentioned in the other thread). Actually the host in the gigantic room with the fixed play list was bordering rude to me as he very definitely refused to deviate from his fixed play list. I guess that those people are the ones who lose with that sort of attitude! I reckon that the customer is right. I remarked to one super obliging host that I did not want to empty his room and he answered, 'Does not matter, it will fill up again in five minutes'. Just some thoughts. Bruce 1
Luc Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 Guess what... Heard Pink F at the show today... Pink F, yes... fancy that eh. 1

March Audio Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 I would be interested in hearing members suggestions for interesting music they would like to hear at the show. Our team can go nuts hearing the same old tracks going round and round for 3 days and Im sure it can be frustrating for visitors to hear the same cliche tracks in many rooms. So get your suggestions in. We cant guarantee to play something specific, but will try our best. Cheers Alan 1
Guest Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 You beat me to it - it's the biggest complaint post show. So here's the chance to put forward your suggestions. Here's last year's: I will once again link exhibitors to this thread if it's actually taken seriously with genuine contributions. 1
Guest Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 79 views and only one suggestion. Let's hope we don't see any complaints about music selections this year! 2 1
playdough Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 Daft Punk Tron and Discovery. CD or Vinyl, both are very good. To be fair not to everyone's taste, however, if you are going to "test" new equipment this is an absolute go to... for me anyway. playdough 2
