Further Information

A pair of Tannoy DMT 15 MkII Studio Monitors for sale.

3833 drivers - 15” paper cone dual concentric driver, with ceramic magnets and tulip waveguide for the highs.

DMT (Differential Material Technology) Cabinet construction.

Quality crossovers with air core inductor for the bass driver mounted separately to the rest of the crossover.

Dimensions: 840 mm x 550 mm x 440 mm (33” x 21.6” x 17.3”)

Weight:  45kg (99.2lbs)

I bought this pair from a stereo net member in Melbourne a year and a half ago, and had a friend drive them to Adelaide. I’ve been on the lookout for a pair since i heard them in a recording studio in 2010. They are not a pipe and slipper Tannoy - the DMT’s are dynamic and fast, with tight, accurate bass, dig deep into the recording, yet are musical and easy to listen to - probably due to the paper cone. They project a large sound stage, and when properly set up will disappear sonically.

The cabinets are incredibly well made, the crossovers are well designed and use quality parts.

In spite of their high sensitivity, they respond well to more current and grip. They match well with push pull tube amps - the DMT’s driven by a Leben CS300F was the best sound I have had in my room. I sadly don’t have the room for them.

The DMT15s rock.  I love your description - “Not a pipe and slipper Tannoy”

They are fast, articulate and can go very loud if needed.  Def need room to breathe though.  The drivers are the same as used in the Churchill.

I’d buy them if I didn’t already have a pair!

GLWTS!

I went to look at a pair of these for sale locally .The voice coil on one was completely cooked, the cone shredded and the tweeter dead too. What a shame! The mind boggles as to what was fed into them to cause that.

I think I saw that pair on marketplace down your way. It looked like a HiFi slasher movie! 😆

These on the other hand look great ! GLWTS

That’s nuts @thomo.. these speakers are builds to play loud all day every day in a studio environment.. cooked voice coil and tweeter could have been an amp clipping, but a shredded cone ..

I love the brutalist, almost military styling. Awesome!

I actually got them to integrate quite well - visually and sonically - in my small room. They matched well with a pair of solid wood side tables from early settler (they can be seen in the top photo and another that I just added)

Yeah he had a big power amp with one defective channel so that adds up.
