praljak
Good morning all, I purchased a 3 channel purifi amplifier from Buckeye in the States about 7 months ago. It's been in storage since I purchased it, awaiting the completion of our new house build. When I plugged it in for the first time this morning, I heard a pop, followed by the smell of smoke. Anyone have an idea what the issue might be, and if it's gonna be an expensive fix?

And if you haven’t already contacted the supplier you should be contacting them for advice or a warranty claim
praljak
Thanks. Contacted the supplier and he accidentally set it at 110 volts. Would it have damaged anything else?

Hopefully it may just be a fuse as that is your first line of defence Then was a fast or slow acting fuse fitted ? Fast acting is good - if it works as it should then fingers crossed all is OK Slow acting - some damage may have occurred and even if issues don’t show up now they may show up in the future

Addicted to music
Did you take the cover off and had a look? And maybe attempt to replaced the fuse with the correct type? See if you can see a jumper for voltage input selection and correct it? Its not the 1st time a Hypex supply went faulty, I had one take out the main breaker to the house. The supply vaporised! Hypex sent a brand new one on there cost even though it was outside warranty Edited September 9 by Addicted to music
praljak
When I opened the lid I could see burn marks, so figured I'd better just leave it be until a new power supply arrives....

praljak
I got the sparky who was working at the house to put it in. They're installing my new Theatre system and will test it early next week. Buckeye amps in the US were amazing. They sent the new supply out straight away and I had it in 3 days
Neo
Would test it now especially when your electrician is on site so he can have a look at the operation rather than risk anything else. Neo

Generally, electricians don't understand this type of equipment, they are focused on the mains supply to the room.
praljak
The sparky works with the Theatre installers and does the electrical side of things.
