I am intrigued Dave, roll on part II.

What an awesome looking room, luckily I have the mind power to imagine the sound!

Is that yours?

No not mine ( I wish) agreed different view on listening, so it will be interesting to see what part 2 as to say.

That is a terrible layout for the records.  Nothing worse than being on your hands and knees looking thru the bottom row of records.

Would have been much better to add an additional row for records and put box sets, cables etc in boxes in the bottom row.

Don’t agree with that at all

Music is emotional

Thinking about it is counter productive

If you want to truly hear music put on Sgt Peppers or Hank Williams Greatest Hits

Or Highway 61

Then it doesn’t matter what quality your stereo is it will sound incredible

Thinking is the last thing to be doing😄

That room doesn’t appeal to me at all either

Too sterile an environment

For me this is more to my liking 😄

If one is spending that much $$ on shelves,  at least do it so it's practical.

Since when was audio practical 😁

Some people take things too literal.

When I say, wow what a room, any room is the best room in the house if it is your listening room, I am just in awe of that much musical possibilities. All that discovery one can do.

Agreed the shelves could be more conducive to browsing, for one, taking in to account my stuffed back. But, for a moment, just concentrate on that amount of music to choose from.

If I wanted to be picky, I could say that, @keyse1, true the room is full of atmospheric nostalgia, but being so dimly lit, I could not read the info on the posters; I would be likely to trip over if I tried to get closer 🙂  But a great room nonetheless.

In each case the music lover has crafted a space for themselves, no one else.

I'm assuming the subdued lighting is for listening, and there would be room lighting for viewing the gallery.  And some nice tributes - Beatles, Dylan, I think some Nudie suits, CSNY, classic movies.  There is a lot that would make me feel at home there, even before I get to those tube amps.

If the crux of this article is, as seems, that "...our mind receives 70,000 thoughts a day, mostly negative",  then—

If true I'm not surprised that listening pleasure is affected, but—

Where's the research for that statement? I've never heard anything like that in 50 years as a psychotherapist and 60 years involvement in psychology.

If the thoughts are received, who's doing the transmission?

Indeed.  I am personally pretty sceptical of everything and anything that comes out of PS Audio these days.  I doubt there is any substantial basis for almost anything they say or publish.  It puzzles me why they are such an often used appeal to authority around here.

Exactly.  We only use 10% of our brains*, so it couldn't possibly process 70,000 thoughts a day, mostly negative!

* Postscript: this is an often-quoted myth.  The truth is the only people who use 10% of their brains are people who quote that statistic as a fact and those who write articles like the one being discussed.

The article linked in the OP was from “Copper” Magazine and is in two parts.  The articles were initially published in PMA.

Below is a link to the second part which will appear in “Copper” soon.  I found it an interesting read.  Read the last part of my signature below.

Interesting comment.  Do the research.  Search on “thoughts and brain”.  Regardless of the daily number which varies depending on source the topic is interesting.

A quote from one source

"Be careful of your thoughts,
for your thoughts become your words.

Be careful of your words,
for your words become your actions.

Be careful of your actions,
for your actions become your habits.

Be careful of your habits,
for your habits become your character.

Be careful of your character,
for your character becomes your destiny.

Yeah, I prefer the room in this pic too and I love the posters and I see what look like some vinyl boxsets, but where's the turntable?😕 Agree, the room in the OP's post looks a bit sterile for my liking too.

Cheers,

Oh WOW...why wasn't I told all that when I was a little tacker.

It usually was...get a degree...get a good job...marry the right person...buy a 3 bedroom brick veneer...have kids...contribute to your Super!

Instead I went on the road...after leaving a few jobs...silly me!

And as for those pesky "thoughts" I have learnt over time to study mine...examine, explore and try to explain them to myself...it seems to slow down both their arrival and their numbers...yeah I am fun at parties! 🙂

Blaise Pascal once said...“All of humanity's problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone.”

(Makes me think that all the Gurus are possibly housed in Jails!)

Reckon if one canna still still then one canna hear the music...or smell the roses or hear the birds sing!
