PicoWattson
An interesting article on noise cancelling ear wear and sound/brain studies in the Guardian. https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2023/aug/28/noise-cancelling-headphones-risks-concerns
Godot
I found the correlation between wearing earplugs and tinnitus interesting. I wore earplugs for years to sleep, first as a night shift worker needing to sleep during the day then as a long haul truck driver needing to sleep in random places. Now retired I rarely wear earplugs, but love the noise cancelling headphones, particularly in planes. Who knows though, my tinnitus could be caused by other common causes, I certainly exposed myself to a lot of too loud live music for many years. Nirvana in Adelaide was the loudest indoor show I remember, outdoors it must have been AC/DC at Adelaide Oval. I am listening on hifiman edition xs at a very sensible volume right now, they sound great but the tinnitus is a constant companion unless I crank the volume up. Strangely I also get relief from tinnitus for about 24 hours after going for a run?!
Batty
I am lucky with my tinnitus as when there is a small amount of noise the tinnitus is overridden. Mine is due to Deep Purple and Status Quo indoor concerts in the 70's plus rifle firing as an apprentice technician in the Army at the same time. Listening through the Focal Clear right now
