Anybody used felt backed timber batten panels like Ridgeway Accupanel for ceiling mounting?

Can't get link to technical information to work.

No experience myself but I can't see any measurement data on their website and their reviews are all User reviews rather than objective testing. I guess they are going to be really expensive too. They do look very nice though.

These guys have specs https://acoufelt.com.au/solution/timbertop-slat-acoustic-panel/

The panel system I linked to is suitable for walls or ceilings. It might be easier to install as it has a PET backing. They do have measurement data.

The only possible issue is that they use MDF with laminate which potentially aesthetically won't be a nice as a solid timber or veneered timber slat. But if you get the right PET backing / laminate colour combo it could look really nice.

https://hub.acoufelt.com/pdf/12mm-timbertop-slat-spec-sheet/ - acoustic data and mounting instruction (direct fix).

On second thoughts - very expensive - https://www.orcasoundproofing.com.au/acoustic-timber-panels/timbertop-slats-acoustic-panels

Tempted to make some myself.6mm ply strips with black felt glued onto that and then western red cedar battens screwed or pinned through the ply.The felt board you can get at Bunnings.

The Ridgeway Accupanels come with sound attenuation data but I can't get the link they sent me to work.

One thing I recommend is to be mindful of styling as well as performance.  Having treated a number of ceilings now it’s always interested me how much it tends to grab attention, much more so than would expect.

If going DIY then also worth thinking about weight, as getting them up there is quite challenging!

I had my room done professionally and they brought in an EWP and used acroprops!

More tests but again just PET panels so the measurements should be pretty consistent for other branded or unbranded products:

https://www.sontext.com.au/acoustic-panels-thickness-counts/ - getting the PET off the wall behind will improve low freq absorption to some degree but fixing will become a much bigger deal.

PET is is quite rigid and does pretty well when exposed to UV. Spread of Flame looks quite good too.

If you want a similar look

It’s very close to vertical outdoor timber screen panels

photos and products on link

These look really great, not sure about the prices though.?   Quality hand made timbers,  would come at a price...     The Luxpanels are $240 for a 2.4 metre panel

IMHO looks like a reasonable price, considering how much you would be put out if DIY' ing something similar.

Beautiful product, would get the clap echo mostly under control although you might need more than 4 panels.

I will be needing something in my room, builders finished today, and my specially built man cave is an echo chamber atm.😪

Ah, I feel the pain 😐. Load it full of mancave goodies that'll cut down the clap echo, a little.  Love the look of the timber wall treatment though, beautiful.

Acupanel is designed to go on ceilings as well as walls according to this tech sheet.

Is it possible to get Acupanel in Australia? All I can see is a NZ website.
