glenn469
Hi All, My lounge and rear speakers for my hometheatre are in the middle of the room. I've run the speaker cabled under the rug but some is exposed on the floor between rug and speakers. The problem is my robot vacuum gets tangled up in the cables, I'm looking for some suggestions for a solution that the vacuum won't get stuck on and aren't too noticeable under the rub. Thanks

glenn469
What a good idea, have attached a speaker. Only ideas so far have been a flat cable or maybe a black cable tube such at https://www.bunnings.com.au/d-line-30-x-15mm-2m-black-adhesive-cable-management-cover_p0374190?store=8172&gclid=CjwKCAjw8symBhAqEiwAaTA__BbQPZfmU4XaB_uv7jaJJ4VWGR5JI5LhqI9b2_oGwDtuqwDO2WqkkhoCKwIQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds I have tried the Velcro cable covers but they didn't stick to the carpet. bob_m_54
My wife bought one of those robot vacs, and often i'd come home to find it stuck somewhere on the many obstacles in any room she put it in.. I found the best thing was to flip it on it's back..

Yeah, that's a summery of ours for the past 2 years , we are working on eliminating as many obstacles as possible.
STROP
Maybe not a suggestion, but have one of these and a bit of exercise to boot as well...
Keith_W
Use a ribbon speaker cable like this: https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Flat-Speaker-Cable-Ribbon-Piece/dp/B00I225SFA If it is held down by the rug and some tape under the sofa, hopefully your robot vacuum won't pick it up. Otherwise, you could tape it down.
GRP
I thought robot vacs were all learning machines. Place a hard barrier (lengths of timber) around the cable area and have the machine relearn/remap and then remove the barriers.

I’ve seem mine trying multiple attempts to get over some rugs and they moves to the corner of the rug and climbs it successfully to do it’s business, lots of fun watching it go over obstacles: sometimes too funny! Removed the excess cable and place the excess under the rug, run it from the rug to the closes leg of that couch, use cable tie to secure it to the couch leg at the bottom, run the cable up that leg and use another cable tie to secure it to the top of that leg, run the cable to the speaker Stand and use a cable to secure it to the speaker stand, then pug it to the speaker.. However I’d start with where the speaker is and go backwards Edited August 10 by Addicted to music

Use a leaf blower first, then do your vacuuming. I love my leaf blower, it's also great for cleaning out your car. Open all the doors and blow away. It's much faster than vacuuming, but it does not pick up small dirt particles embedded in rugs ... so you still need to vacuum. But for quick clean ups it does the job.
doogie44
I hope you're using an approved head-banger, thrash-metal, bleeding-ear type of leaf blower (like my neighbour's) for audiophile system duties, e.g. The Husqvarna leaf blower is one of the louder leaf blowers in our comparison, reaching up to 97.9 decibels This will at least take your mind off the annoying dust robot problem (they're looking for synthetic love in all the wrong places)...
