ppopp
As keen as I am to hear from others about their experiences with all things 2 channel audio, in particular I am interested in matching cartridges with tonearms and phono stages. I have recently been fortunate enough to switch between several different cartridges and phono pre-amps, including three different tonearms. The results were fascinating. I like my audio equipment to have an edge to it's sonic virtues. I got started in audio when I was about 10 years old and my ma's hairdresser plonked me down on his sofa in front of his tall Cambridge Audio R50 speakers, Luxman integrated and Nakamichi 582 to keep me quiet while he cut hair. It worked. I was enthralled to hear Queen and Mike Oldfield sounding like they were in the room with me. By 15 I had my own system of rag-tag and bobtail separates and I was thrilled. I did eventually get my own 3 head Nakamichi, and it was a like having taken possession of royal jewels from The Tower Of London. A few years later, recordable CD was introduced and that was that.. I love reaching for the next LP. Classical, rock, heavy rock, folk and a bit of jazz here and there. For convenience when I want background music, I use either a Fiio M11S with half a gigabite of music on it, or Radioparadise. What brought me here was David Price. I like the Hi-Fi World connection, as well as DP's points of view and writing style.

I'll PM you, unless you'd like to continue the discussion here. I'm about to install my Garrett P77i on my Rega RP6 playing thought my iFi Zen Phono stage, just waiting on some spacers and a smaller tungsten counterweight for the RB303 tonearm.
