TequilaSimmo
Hi Team, Ive been on the Hunt for a cheap but decent used Projector for a few months. Purchased a Sony ES40 which ended up being faulty and then followed that up with an Epson 8200, which also turned out to be faulty. Then purchased a TW6700 a week ago which low and behold, was also faulty. Id love to just buy New but the Projectors with decent black levels are pretty expensive. TW9400 has been the projector on the top of my list but wondering if there are any others with great contrast around the $3-$4k Mark? Open to a used projector and have my eye out for a TW8200/9200/9300, JVC x35... Wondering if there are any others to look for used? I see the Rainbow so that limits my selection a bit

TequilaSimmo
Thanks Betty, The age of these projectors is something that I've been thinking about as well. Purchasing new sounds like the smarter option. Considering these are still selling for a fair bit used the safety net of a warranty would probably be worth the extra alone. Ive seen a couple ex demos pop up so also worth considering.
BRS
I have the Epsom TW9200 and its showing a green line at start up for maybe 5mins then goes away for approx 2hrs then comes back again. It was displayed all the time for a while then went intermittent again. So, it's an age thing rather than projector type?

Often related to ribbon cables and their connections.
hopefullguy
hmm cant understand op how you are buying 3 faulty projectors. all my pjs have been/are 2nd hand. 2x w1070, 2xw1110, 1x viewsonic 8100pro, 1x epson ehtw8200. all work great, those that were sold were because of the 2nd hand prices i could get. best to actually test for the length of a movie or at least be local so you can go back and get your $$ refunded in person. The first one i picked up without testing. Learnt my lesson. The second one was from ebay, but knew i was covered in case it was faulty, which it turned out to be. Returned for a refund. And the last one was tested on site and fine but stopped working an hour after using it at home.. Dropped it back off for a refund. Overall just bad luck. Ive just picked up a TW9300, which seems to be working perfectly except is a little noisy..
