Audio Magic AU Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 Audio Magic attended Australian HiFi Show 2023 that took place in Sydney from 28th till 30th of April. Audio Magic presented several brands from our portfolio: Harbeth, KUDOS, Copland, Ayre Acoustics, AQUA Acoustic Quality, LUMIN, HANA, Tellurium Q®, Bauer Audio… We were located on the ninth floor in the room 921 of Sydney Novotel Central Hotel. As to be expected no hotel loom is ideal for audio and this time was nothing different, with awkward built in desk with vertical side blocking free flow(air pressure) on one side of the room, shiny furniture surface mounted on the wall on the opposite… room was approximately 7m long and 4m wide, with room for six seating position and only two of those in relative sweet spot. Not complaining, just describing as it was, and we made the most of it! One would not expect to get focused, thunderous yet super tight sound in hotel room, but it just happened! 5
metal beat Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 Cam did say those speakers were special, but at the time the Harbeth speakers were playing. I couldn't make it a couple of hours later as @Doppelganger , @artaudio & @mikeyd had me drinking Guinness 1

System: Aqua Acoustic Quality - LinQ Network Interface Aqua Acoustic Quality - La Scala MKII Optologic DAC Ayre Acoustics - AX-5 Twenty Integrated Amplifier Harbeth Audio – SuperHL5+ XD TonTräger - Reference loudspeaker stands Tellurium Q® - all cabling Provided by our partner Krispy Audio: VPI - Prime 21 Scout turntable Esoteric - E-02 Phono Stage Mighty Harbeth SuperHL5+ XD fought as best they could, but in whole honesty, hotel room was fighting back, and with some tracks unfortunately wining.
Audio Magic AU Posted May 3, 2023 Author Posted May 3, 2023 Saturday 29th afternoon @ 02.0PM we decided to get KUDOS T606 back on "stage" and give it some serious fire power! Ayre Acoustics AX-5 Twenty Integrated Amplifier & KUDOS T606 .... and WOW! ... yes, I am invested, and yes I can not be objective, and YES it was the killer sound! Punchy, dynamic, full range yet tight as you want it to be. We end up playing some electronic music with crazy synthetized bass notes that were "moving room walls". ... and, yes, all that from that not very big floorstander in the photo below. All visitors to the room are more then welcome to comment and call BS if they thought/heard different. 1

Again, focused, tight, spacious and full range sound in the hotel room was sensational accomplishment. Being full tube integrated amp Copland CTA407 kept driving not highly sensitive KUDOS T606 with impressive authority ! Sunday 30th around 01.00PM: We just wanted to share more of Harbeth "magic" with the world and swapped KUDOS with amazing, and latter to be discovered perfect fit for that room Harbeth M30.2 XD ! Audio Magic AU Posted May 3, 2023 Author Posted May 3, 2023 Adding to the Harbeth M30.2 XD brilliant presentation was the mighty impressive AQUA LinQ Network Interface and La Scala MkII DAC. Using AQUA LinQ Network Interface to play from our ROON library and then directly to La Scala MkII DAC that incorporates all the most desirable tech like R2R, FPGA, no filtering, and SET coupled with MOSFET in the output stage, soundstage was huge, airy and beautifully portrayed. Expressive, detailed yet never intrusive or edgy, was the secret sauce brought by AQUA house sound. And yes, less is sometime more! ... in this hotel room Harbeth M30.2 XD was doing wonders larger Super HL5+ XD just couldn't do!

Without his help and wealth of knowledge and experience, this show would never be as successful as it played out to be. Audio Magic AU Posted May 3, 2023 Author Posted May 3, 2023 Honorable mention at the Sydney HiFi Show 2023: Thumbs up for our friends from Avation, Mark Hamilton and his amazing crew, who fought the battle with large conference room in Novotel Hotel and after endless hours, rotating orientation of gear in the room several times, adding and subtracting acoustic room treatment somehow at the end managed to succeed and set up amazing sounding system with incredible looking Vivid Audio loudspeakers. Of course that room would never sound as good without our fantastic LUMIN P1 Music Streamer / DAC / Preamplifier, and all Tellurium Q® Ultra Black II Series Interconnect and Loudspeaker cables!

Space Hi-Fi Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Audio Magic, and of course Cameron from Krispy Audio put together a brilliant display. The show was full of gems and this room would have to be among the best. For any Sydneysiders interested in sampling these fine brands, we currently have the new Copland CTA407 and CSA100 available for demonstration. Along with a selection of products from Harbeth and LUMIN etc. To echo the above sentiment, I too, am very much looking forward to the next show!

We also have the Tellurium Qs available, Shunyata/Vermouth that were also used, VPI and much more. Available 7 days a week by appointment if you need as well

We all go to this events and try our best to assemble the system that will engage the visitors/listener and communicate in the best possible way the emotional message played music/track has to offer. We can only feel pride and joy reading the following: " ... this was the only room this year that made our sensitive Editor actually cry." WOW! .... Mission accomplished! .... Looking forward to seeing you at Melbourne 2023 Hi-Fi Show in October! ... We'll do even better!! 1
