mrfloopy Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Do you have the 50c in black? The silver one won't match the rest of my equipment. 1
Peter_F Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Extra Info: 50c piece not included in sale, but available for an additional 70c. Bargain!
wolster Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 This thread is a good example of the joy of getting back to the old classified system. 1
kefacurus Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 I once had a 50c like that - i really regret spending it. 1

While I am sure this is a fair price, I have a limited budget and am unable to spend more than 49c including post.If you are unable to sell your item at or near the asking price and are looking to quit it within my budget, I would appreciate a PM. The 50c piece in question is probably worth a great deal more than 49c minus postage http://www.australian-threepence.com/blog/2009/03/australian-50-cent-coins-value.html I'm surprised djb hasn't showed up waving his pensioner card around It's vultures like you that ruin it for the rest of us just my 2 (or is that 50) cents 1

Is it uncirculated? Apart from the cryo treatment, anything else you can tell me about it?How do you think it would sound in a SS system with warm speakers? Too bright being Silver? Should I go for Copper? Edited November 6, 2013 by Telecine

How do you think it would sound in a SS system with warm speakers? Too bright being Silver? Should I go for Copper? I understand you have been misinformed by the snake oil marketing. The coin's not really silver. But the one with 2 kangas is quite another story....but it rarely shows up on internet. 1

It has been in use for approximately 7 years. The manufacturer, however, tells, me that this is the recommended burn in time. With this in mind I would have to say that this is "better than new". My new 50c piece feles somewhat sharper, whereas the burnt in version is a little smoother on the palm. Please note, that this coin has a high copper content to take the edge off that silver-sound. I have compared it to coins at least twice the price- even a 2 dollar piece, and in my mind the 50c is better. I hate to let his go- but one can only have so many polygonal coins in one's collection Edited November 6, 2013 by teddyboy
djb Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 If this was a Salvos sale On z Tuesday And my pension card with 20% discount applied I might have 62c cash As it was for charity But now I know that mob at Shunyata are involved I've changed my mind
Peter_F Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 I once had a 50c like that - i really regret spending it. I have a 20c and hoping one day to upgrade to 50c, but wondered if the perceived gain in value would have been real or placebo? 2
.dave Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 I don't believe the human ear can truly distinguish any currencies greater than 10c. 2
kefacurus Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I don't believe the human ear can truly distinguish any currencies greater than 10c. I thought so too, but when I started saving 50c pieces it was like a veil had been lifted from my moneybox.
caddisgeek Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Would you say that the 50c piece sounds better than five 10c pieces?

They will cost you about $8.50+p/h.
