Clearaudio Titanium V1

Looking at the cantilever and wonder if it is the correct colour or has it been over heated.

Canti lever?  Why do you think it's been over-heated?

Andy

The multi colour of the cantilever to me looks like steel which has been heated and cooled.Must be how it is made!!

Would be interesting to know what temps a cantilever gets up to -- given the vinyl is said to soften right up and that's only momentary contact! The canti has full time contact.

Stump, that thing's a boron cantilever right? It's probably just alloy plated. Nothing I would worry about. (In fact the more I think, the more I think it's like my Norton pipes!)

It certainly looks like steel that has been heated but this is the first time i've come across a steel cantilever apart from the needles on the old wound up gramaphones. Or am i missing something and the cantilever is titanium hence the name of the cartridge?

The body is titaniun, the shaft is boron.

I once had a Norton with pipes like that!!

Thats what I was thinking when I seen it for sale.It is a boron shaft.I don't own this but just looking as my own cart just snapped a cantilever! Should have used the 20 cent cover :(

I had a Clearaudio Maestro cartridge and it looked the same.

It had a Boran cantilever.
