murrmax Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 I am using active setup with 2x8minidsp. I have 3 ways and want to try using different amps on the bass. Problem is the amps are balanced meaning i need to use the balanced outputs for these which are 8v rms vs 2vrms out for the unbalanced that the regular amps are using. What is the level of db i should be reducing by to compensate .. i can do it by ear but would be good to know.
henry218 Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 measure it? its prett obvious from the freq graph. 1
davewantsmoore Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Depends on the input sensitivity and gain of the amp. You should measure the frequency response with a microphone like Henry suggested.
hochopeper Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 (edited) don't forget the sensitivity of the drivers are (likely) different too. Edited November 5, 2013 by hochopeper
murrmax Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 Ok thanks, i will go the measurement route; makes sense. Yes, realise the amp gain is also different as is the driver sensitivities..
