tgradd Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 (edited) Hi, I have a pair of 12" Maganavox 12w 8ohm woofers and 3.5" Magnavox 8ohm tweeters that i have pulled out of a set of speaker boxes i picked up. I want to make a better cross over network for them as they currently only have a capacitor on them for the highs, but i don't have the frequency ranges for them. I have searched the net for hours trying to find any info on these speakers, even on ebay to see if i could find a model for them but have found nothing. I have put up some pictures in case someone knows anything (i know a bit of a stab in the dark, but worth a shot) or maybe some where to search.I thought at first the model number was on the sticker in the second photo but it pulled nothing up on the web. Cheers, Tim Edited November 5, 2013 by tgradd
henry218 Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 the best would be measured impedance and parameters with dats. but looking at the drivers, it may not perform well unless you work on it, the stamped basket needs to be covered with bitumen or dynamat. depends on how much you want to spend, but it will be around $200 at least to get it proper
tgradd Posted November 6, 2013 Author Posted November 6, 2013 What value cap are they using? they are using a 4.7um 50V cap which i would replace with a 100v.

Well, I thought you were going to build new crossovers..................but from the cap we can derive the crossover frequency and get a rough clue to the frequency handling. Will get to it later....................must prepare falafel, etc.
