Ahh MOG = spotify. But Free on downloads if you have telstra internet

Also my NAS is connected to the internet and acts as a music server, so it can stream directly to my iPhone whilst running. The DS audio app from sinology is free for android or iphone

See some screen shots here http://www.appbrain.com/app/ds-audio/com.synology.DSaudio

Cowon is a great player. My very first music player was an Iriver iHP100 series 20Gb, player, which also had a great mic and mic in jack for recording.

Cowon really took me by surprise first time i heard it.

Won't go back to anything else..

It still impresses me.

I don't have a nas. But that ds app is really looking good, sounds you are getting a lot of fun from this app.

Wav files... Awesome ..

Iphone?.. Not the bestest way of creating life for your wav files..

But i supposed it's needed if you want to impress your friends..

It's just a thing to carry my favourites around.

Rarely used.........sounds OK.

Does it have an aux/headphone?

This could also be enough.

Nah.........apparently it was added in the model after mine. (unfortunately..........although......I'm yet to pull it out and check the back. The connections might be there!)

ipod touch strapped to my arm whilst jogging, otherwise the only other time i listen to music on the go is in the car, and even then, its purely for a bit of noise, as prefer the note of the exhaust  :)

Same here, just love the sound of a diesel :D

Almost every car stereo has a USB input nowdays! And there cheap as well. I always buy the last years 'old' models for half price at supercheap. I've never looked back once I got USB! It's just too easy and convenient all round for the car,

My car radio has no usb.

And i dont need it.

The radio is capable of playing mp3 of dvd.. So 10 discs of 4gb each is plenty...

But i listen to radio most of time in the car.. Works for me

Natively.....I think.

I use power amp, play music also plays flac

I use Poweramp to plac flac on my HTC - either bluetooth in the car or some Klipsch S4 (I think) earbuds.

Spotify also gets a go.

I am mostly on the go on the buses and an Iriver H340 with an upgraded longer-life battery has served me well for a long while now - possibly 8 years. It has 40GB HDD inside and I could upgrade that to a 128 SSD if I so choose. I recently picked up some Etymotic P4 'phones and they are excellent at what they do. So good, I am tempted to get them put into moulded in-ear monitors.

Anyway, back tot he Iriver, I put Rockbox onto it and it happily plays WAV, FLAC, OGG, all MP3s of course, some streaming formats that the BBC use and probably some others I have not bothered with so far. The old Iriver is a little chunky in comparison with sleek new things, but I don't care to trade in while the old one still works, and works well.

In the car it is mostly radio (no USB on mine, either - part of the price of buying a second hand car) on shorter journeys but the Iriver is pressed into service via a small FM transmitter for longer journeys. I have been known to use my phone (HTC Desire S) to listen to audio on the go but it does run the battery a lot faster, so it is an occasional thing.

Cowon X7 (160 gig) with Shure SE535 earphones for music - great sound, snug fit, good noise isolation.

iPod Touch with some cheaper Audio Technica earphones for audio books - however just ordered a set of Audio Technica ANC33iS noise cancelling earphones (inline mic and controller). Look good value for $89.

When on my morning run/walk, I really enjoy my playlists through Spotify Premium on my iPhone 5 using Hi-Fi Man RE-400 canal phones (around $100 at Headphonics).

I'm a huge fan of Grado GR8's although I lost my last pair on a trip :( I use an old set of Sony MDR-EX70 phones which I've had for donkeys years and although falling apart, still have great sound. I do also have a pair of Ortofon e-Q7 phones, these are ok, not as good as the Grado's IMHO.

I've used all sorts of players, but these days tend to use my Iphone4 mostly as it's just the most convenient. I did lust after one of these at one point:

Main reason I only load measliy 128kbs mp3s on  my ipod!

And mp3s are all that is necessary when in the landcruiser. Can't appreciate the better quality anyway!

If it's hard enough hearing the diff. between flac and 320kbs mp3s on a reasonable home stereo then there's buckleys of trying to get any advantage in the 'car'!

I've got quite a comprehensive collection of working portable gear now that I think of it:

 - Sony sports walkman.   the 'water proof' yellow one

 - Sony mini-disc player/recorder.

 - Panasonic CD player.   I remember tossing up  between this and a first gen ipod when I bought it.

 - Ipod.  60GB,  4th gen.   Purchased in early 2006 and still kicking.

 - iphone.

 - Panasonic AM/FM radio,    the latest acquisition.  For the footy.

But,   I don't really use any of them.     If I do it's the ipod or iphone with a pair of Koss porta pro's.

Cowon X7 (160 Gb) "plugged into" the car or through Denon canalphones. Plays FLACs, awesome sound, crap screen.

Want THIS. Drool, droool.

Hi, for music on the go I use my iphone 4 running iTunes or Spotify , in the car via USB mainly as it's the best sq as my jvc has burr brown dacs , when l'm walking etc I use it with my Fischer Audio DBA-02's , and on the ride on mower and brush cutting I use it with diy headphones using koss KSC - 75's drivers in industrial earmuffs http://www.instructables.com/files/deriv/FQ9/MDTY/GJHVL5GI/FQ9MDTYGJHVL5GI.LARGE.jpg

Very happy with portability and sq :)

Aftermarket headunits don't have to be expensive. Kenwood's entry level mechless unit is under $100 and plays Flac. As for portable, I guess it's more the headphones than anything else.
