I decided to go for a topic name that didn't say ipod or mp3 as i want to include as many types audio as possible.

I see many threads and info on home audio.

But nothing as to mobile devices.

They have always been a big part of my life.

Starting of with a walkman... Which progressed over the years.

But i still love listening to music outside the comfort of my home.

So who owns and uses mobile devices.

And what kind?

Posted

My only mobile device is an iPhone 5.

I can stream 320kb music via my Synology NAS using a Synology app called DS audio.

Otherwise I can call up MOG on any of my devices Macbook Air, iPhone etc.

Not sure if this was the type of response you were after?

Any response is a good response .

I was more thinking when not at home, and not having access to a nas.

Like running cycling or walking your dog.

Or at work, if you don't have an office to yourself.

I am not an apple fan, so I have no knowledge of this 'MOG' yet, feel free to explain.

After my last player got lost/stolen, I bought a brand new second hand.

So i'm stil playing with the sound set-up .

it's a cowon i9+ 32gb, and capable of playing flac files.

it has plenty of sound settings, making it a good sound quality device.

Ahh MOG = spotify.  But Free on downloads if you have telstra internet

Also my NAS is connected to the internet and acts as a music server, so it can stream directly to my iPhone whilst running.  The DS audio app from sinology is free for android or iphone

See some screen shots here http://www.appbrain.com/app/ds-audio/com.synology.DSaudio

Cowon is a great player.  My very first music player was an Iriver iHP100 series 20Gb, player, which also had a great mic and mic in jack for recording.

I only listen to CD's in the car.

That's it.

Me too. But I never bother with CDs anymore, it's USB drives for me. I have about 8 of them from 2GB to 8GB. Hold heaps of music and easy to navigate when sick of an album. I never liked the idea of plugging an Ipod into the radio and having wires flapping around.

I also have some albums on my Samsung Galaxy S2. The main problem with smartphones as music players is that the battery doesn't last too long. BIG drawback IMO.

I was searching for an mp3 (or portable) music player and there's not much out there nowdays. Everything points towards 'smartphones'!

An alternative for cd use is dvd..

As you can put 4gb of music on them its a good way.

Also google cowon.

It's a very good brand for portable media.

I use the Samsung Galaxy S4 via Bluetooth in the car. On occasion I'll use it when walking around town. I have a 64BG SD card loaded with over 1000 tracks ripped in FLAC. The Samsung pairs up nicely with the Klipsch One headphones.

ipod touch strapped to my arm whilst jogging, otherwise the only other time i listen to music on the go is in the car, and even then, its purely for a bit of noise, as prefer the note of the exhaust  :)

I bought a iPod Classic recently to hold my 130gb or so of music. This connects to my car stereo via a USB connection in the centre console but controlled from the touchscreen in dash. It also is used when traveling for work as I take a Bose Travel Dock Speaker with me domestically and set up temporary showrooms in my hotel suite's living areas. It's also used when we go camping.

I use Bluetooth earphones at low volume so I can still hear traffic connected to my 64gb iPhone 5 when out riding solo, either commuting or where I'm tackling a decent climb. Music is down sampled on the phone so I can carry more but it mainly used as a bit of company or distraction from pain rather than quality listening.

Samsung s4 supports Flac

supported audio formats

MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, AMR-NB/WB, OGG, FLAC, AC-3, apt-X

Sammy S3, flac files via poweramp app. Klipsch iems with t400 foam eartips (they make great earplugs when I'm on the chainsaw!) or Ultrasone pro900 cans when I am travelling. I can plug the phone into my trucks radio, but it sounds like shet so it's 2BL or Radio National when I'm driving.

Que

It's an everyday tool of life, I don't know anyone who would be impressed by one though.

I use an iPod classic in the car. It sits in the glovebox and just plays via a USB cable. It's there pretty much permanently. Does the job I reckon.

That's good to know.

I currently have the 'nexus'.

Planning to upgrade to s4 during contact renewal.
