Andythiing Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Just saw Tony perform @ The Gov - what a sensational show - this guy has one of the best set of lungs i have ever heard - he ripped through a selection of spandau classics along with cover from the killers, duran duran, U2, Queen and Frank Sinatra - non of it cheesy - all done with absolute class in his own style whilst saluting the songs he obviously adores - this guy was not easing his way through the night he jumped in boots and all and loved every minute - true showman - he had us lapping it up and begging for more - if you can get to see him whilst on tour you wont be dissapointed! 53 and going strong! 3
surprisetech Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Yes, great voice and great entertainer. Probably would have got tickets, but just back from OS trip, so no big concerts for a little while. Really enjoyed his contribution when he was on RockWiz, and recently got "The Reformation Tour Live at The O2" DVD and love it.
Grumpy Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I never rated him or took notice of him until I saw him on RockWiz I think it was and I was blown away by his great voice (and seems a nice bloke too) Good on you Andy I'm sure it would have been a special gig. 1
Sir Triode Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I always thought he was gay (from the way he sings and carries himself on stage) but only recently found out that he is married with kids.

Way back when the single "Gold" was released, I was so impressed that I bought the 12" 45RPM extended mix and it's still the pride of my small vinyl singles collection!

This statement/ confession is so wrong, in so many ways, I may just sign off for the evening. Nighty- night. ZM.
Terry Beard Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I was there too. Got to say I'm not a fan but he was very good indeed. See him if you can. 1
josh0571 Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 (edited) His RockWiz performance was great and he still has a great voice. I wouldn't be without my Spandau Ballet greatest hits CD. Great '80s band Edited November 3, 2013 by josh0571
Sir Triode Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 This statement/ confession is so wrong, in so many ways, I may just sign off for the evening. Nighty- night. ZM. Sorry I offended you with what I wrote, I have never personally ascribed to PC - that is probably why I like Jeremy Clarkson and his cheeky comments. But I don't see what there is to be offended about - I am actually a fan of Spandau Ballet and like his singing. I don't discriminate against LGBT people and count many of them as friends. It was just an observation I made (you have to admit you can tell them apart from their mannerisms - not that there is anything wrong with those mannerism) - the person's sexuality doesn't change my personal opinion of them.
mrbuzzardstubble Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 I loved this one when it came out:-)

" You can tell them apart from their mannerisms". O.K , without wishing to launch this too far off topic, I have just one further response re the stereotyping trap: The ' campest' man I have ever known was a flaming heterosexual. He would have been evicted from the cast of " Are you being served? " for being to over the top. Woman loved him, and he pretty much loved each and everyone right back- frequently! The toughest, strongest, most reliable man I have ever known was an ex-military bloke, who could crush you without raising a sweat, but was also a tender and gentle soul. He was gay. We apologise for this interruption, Now back to our usual program.......... ZM.
Sir Triode Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 (edited) ZM, People stereotype and get stereotyped all the time - it is how you treat the person that matters. As for me, I hate everyone equally. Edited November 2, 2013 by triode12 2
