Rewind Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 I have spent many hours searching and researching, in the hope that I would find a media player to suit my requirements. The long & short of it is that I was unsuccessful in my search. I am hoping someone here can help me. I wish to replace my Cambridge Audio CD Player with a media player. I just want to replace one box with another box. These are my prerequisites Stand alone unit (no pc) Analogue phono output Play at least 192kHz (flac) audio files Wireless not required Connection of a HDD or SSD via usb Exceptional sound quality Not costing an arm & a leg All responses will be appreciated
Dolphy Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 What do you constitute and arm and a leg? Oppo 105AU can all of the above, but I'm not sure what you mean by 'Analogue phono output'

krebetman Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 (edited) I you like your Cambridge audio stuff then a steam magic would fit the bill, although the USB A connector is in the front, alternatively you could Ethernet connect it to a cheap nas. Edit: I meant stream magic. I need to steam my iPhone! Edited October 31, 2013 by krebetman

As a bonus you could also use the 'steam magic' for ironing duties 1
Kaynin Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 http://www.opera-consonance.com/products/digital/D-linear7.htm Max. price of $1290, likely closer to $1k. No need to add the price of a NAS because USB ports (x2) are at the rear for your external HDD or SSD. 1
a.dent Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Oppo and Cambridge Audio universal players will do all you ask and still play all disc types.
Rewind Posted November 3, 2013 Author Posted November 3, 2013 (edited) Thank you to all that have responded. I am trying to keep it under $2k. I don't really require a disc spinner. I just want it play 192kHz (min) files from a HDD or SSD. Edited November 3, 2013 by Rewind

Guest Multidimension Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Pioneer N-50 will do all that you want except the HDD playback via USB. If the HDD is on your network however your get the music. Around $950.
illusion Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Have you checked out the Dvico TVIX Xroid ? I own one myself, does everything you asked and much more, including USB3.0, YouTube, ability to add android games.
