ThirdDrawerDown Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I'm tracking down Dinky Dawson's "Life on the Road". That's inspired me to ask - any recommended reading or web sites to find out about the life of a tour manager, roadie or even a muso?
blackangus Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I think Rob hirst wrote one maybe a decade ago, around the time of midnight oil's demise. Also worth looking for 'Julian Bream - a life on the road' by Tony Palmer. And a bit of an oddball one I really enjoyed is Hellbent for Leather by Seb Hunter
zog Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 ..may or may not be relevant, but there is "GET IN THE VAN' which is Henry Rollins account of touring with punk band Black Flag in the early 80s.
ThirdDrawerDown Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 thanks guys I'll get onto those. Any further thoughts? Some of the stores I'm finding about promoter/manager/artist conflicts are hilarious!
