Winter Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Any other owners. I bought a pair just to try them out for fun. First of all they are just to big. My first impression was okay. Lots of power a bit bright the first couple of hours. But after it seem to be a good buy. But again you get what you pay for. -+'s again a lot of power.good control. And no hum from the trafo's. -'s to big. Some might find them to bright sounding.power consumption. All in all good value for money I think.
L J T Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 What are you running them with? I had the smaller ones and really enjoyed what they did for the price.
alistairm Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I reckon they are great amps for the money. I had a pair for a while and really enjoyed them. The other good news is that they're dead easy to re-sell. Yes - they are big & heavy!
Winter Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Runing Athom 3.0 sirocco from Krispy kabel. And a pair of b&w 802n no, not the same time ) Audio aero Sacd player pre and dac. All voodoo cables. Speaker cable purist audio.
alistairm Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 That's a high end setup. The Emotivas are good value, but definitely the weak link in that line up. The Audio Aero pre is very good, but again it's no match for something like (for instance) a Tom Evans Vibe. (This is not an invitation to anyone to turn this into a discussion about "source direct" vs "active pre", it's based on my own experience owning an Audio Aero for a few years.) If I were you I'd be looking at some new amps as the next step to get the most out of the rest of your gear, especially as the B&Ws are pretty efficient.

I love reading advice like this here it's pure gold and free to boot and you can't ask better than that.
Winter Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Did use a ml380s for a few days. But end up selling it to a guy in Sydney. Not enough space on the rack. Previous amp was a ml331.classe cam 200 monos. And the ear 1001s monos class d's
