djb Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Can't find specs What setting choices does it have?
blackangus Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Hi djb, 60db of gain, can't remember loading. But there are no provisions to alter. I'll check whether the original packaging had a spec sheet
djb Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Thanks batty Was going to send you a PM Did another search and found specs Could a competent tech (ie NOT me)adapt this to a single setting- say 5100?
andyr Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Thanks batty Was going to send you a PM Did another search and found specs Could a competent tech (ie NOT me)adapt this to a single setting- say 5100? It's a phono stage, mate - not a head amp. Hagerman do make a head amp, though. Andy
Batty Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 The Bugle 2 can be built to 40,50 or 60dB gain and 47k or 100 ohms from the supplied parts, if you want to customise Jim is very good to deal with and very helpful.
djb Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Yes Andy thanks just rolling out th notion thank you It's a mc phono so in my gross ignorance I was thinking of a mc phono set to a single setting that would only service a 103 OP found specs 100 ohm
djb Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Sorry batty went to answer door and took few minutes to move electricity seller on. ..... Now the phones rung .... Busy being retired
andyr Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Yes Andy thanks just rolling out th notion thank you It's a mc phono so in my gross ignorance I was thinking of a mc phono set to a single setting that would only service a 103 OP found specs 100 ohm Your other approach with the 'Elevator' (if you don't want to go down the route of getting Duc to replace some of the internal resistors to enable you to select 3K3 / 4K7 / xKx) would be to put it on the 47K setting and plug a pair of 'Y' connectors into the input RCAs ... and then plug into these: the phono cable, and the load resistors. You can buy a cheap pair in Jaycar ... or a better quality pair from someone like Michael Percy in the US - who has "VAMPIRE 'Y' adapter: A one-piece gold plated 'Y' adapter (male to double female RCA, one female in line & one at 90°) … $22.95 per pair". Yes, there's another connection in the signal path but, especially with the Vampire unit, I would suggest this would be minor. Regards, Andy
Batty Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Mine is modded to 200 ohm input resistance and a gain of 54dB which is plenty for my van den Hul MC cart into the Aux input on my Copland. the vdh is .6mV output, so I'm thinking stock at 60dB would be enough gain for a DL103 at 0.3 ish mV output. Instead of soldering resistors directly in the positions required to change the gain ic socket pins could be soldered and resistors fitted as required.
blackangus Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 This is now sold. Thanks to all for interest and the enlightening comments too! Cheers
