djb
What you have is v e r y nice Cary not often lying in a cupboard unused You limit yourself (unnecessarily?) with balanced as a requirement
Guest JohnA
the moon p5 is indeed a brilliant pre amp, and hard to beat without spending some big $$$ but having recently gone through a change from the p5 myself, can understand wanting a change. I ended up keeping my p5 though, figured, there will be times i may still want to use it, or build a second system for it, besides, was getting to a point were i was giving it away and thought stuff that, too good a pre amp for that. Good luck with the hunt. If ever want to hear how a tube ay compare to the moon, you are welcome to pop over and listen to bith the p5 and the grange here at my place
srms
Hi DJB, The AYRE power amps are balanced only to the pre must be balanced out. I am not really keen to use the RCA to XLR adaptors as it is not really a true balanced system anymore. The KX-R are also not earthed (strange not to have a mains earth) so the earth is currently via the signal cable. No earth = LOTS of noise (hum) maybe they are double insulated so don't require a chassis earth. Edited October 26, 2013 by srms

srms
Thanks, I had found that one, and I have asked for a shipping price (Singapore) if I could find one in Oz that would be a little easier (no customs paperwork) Cheers
djb
That makes sense Those/any adaptors would seem to degrade the signal Many adaptors look cheaply constructed. There seems little logic for XLR s in a home system
Guest yamaha_man
Customs paperwork is nothing as is changing the plug. Given the chance of finding one here, if your serious about wanting one you'd be mad not to purchase from Audiogon.
ThirdDrawerDown
I purchased a SLP 2002 from Canuck Audio Mart, had it shipped to Cary USA who changed the power supply to 240v and then had it shipped here. Original purchase: C$1700. Final cost all up A$3,100 inlcuding duty, freight, other govt charges, insurance etc. I couldn't find an 05 for less than $4k and certainly not in Australia. a.dent
Good luck with the SLP 05 srms. You'll love it. I absolutely love mine and would have to be severely financially stressed to ever sell it. Andrew
