petng Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Item: Ayon CD5sLocation:MelbPrice: $4800Item Condition: 8/10 A couple of little dings, but is easily covered with black markerReason for selling: No Need for PreampPayment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD OnlyExtra Info: I purchased this unit for its great valve rectified built in preamp. I was using this Ayon with my Octave RE 290 with great success. It only retired when i purchased my Shindo Masseto Preamp. So even though it is a fantastic Cd player and Dac it is even better as a preamp. So for the price of mid price cd player you get a world class preamp, Cd player, Dac, Phillips Pro 1 transport, and of course a valve rectified preamp. This is an Australian 240v model. Comes with original box and instructions. My unit has the russian 6h30 dr super tube upgrade worth $1000 as well as the power rectify tubes upgraded to russian military tubes The last one of these sold on ebay for $6000, so i think my price is fair. GAM Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Please advise how can I use it as preamp as I listen to my music through harddrive which goes to oppo 95 and then from oppo to anthem Mrx 700 ,which works as preamp . Please advise How can I use it's Dac .Can I convect my harddrive or Apple TV to it. Thanks
b@ndicoot Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Jamshed, Ayon cdp's have the option of dig in as well as out.. Simply connect your HD via spdif or toslink to use the D/A of the Ayon As a pre I'd imagine it would have a variable analouge out so connection straight into your anthem should be no problem!

Thanks The Ayon CD5S has two analog inputs - one XLR and one RCA so if you wanted you could the Oppo 95's XLR output to the Ayon XLR input and use the Ayon as a tube preamp. The other option is to use the Oppo 95's coax output to the Ayon's coax input and use the Ayon's PCM1704K DACs to do the conversion as well as the Ayon as a tube preamp. The Oppo continues to provide the decoding of files on the HDD. One thing to check tho is your power amp's input impedance. The Ayon doesn't have negative feedback and there can be an issue when the input impedance of the power amp is below 47kOhms. 1
