frankn Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 A friend sent me this link. Lightheartedly, I can see myself a bit in this from racing and I can also recognise many types of people I've met over the years http://www.vitalmtb.com/videos/member/How-To-Be-A-Mountain-Biker,23486/bturman,109?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=fb_like 3

peacewise Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Nah dude, I ain't a mtber, I stick with the slicks of my pinarello roadie. Mind u I can choose a fine line through a double apex trannie, and have spent hundreds on saving grams. But 'twas a rad vid. 1
emesbee Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I ride a mountain bike, but I'm not a true mtb'r. I'm primarily a recreational cyclist, but like the 'go anywhere' nature of mountain bikes.
shaky Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Talking today at work and a few guys fit into this category. One had broken a vertebrae in his neck, when he hit his head on a tree, whike on his downhill bike. Fortunately I haven't done the same on mine, only a few close calls.

zipstartcanoe Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Still do a reasonable amount of mountain biking, though nothing like I used to with work commitments. Even started a Mtb wholesaling business out of my bedroom at my folks house when I was in Uni, bring the likes of Santa Cruz, etc into the country for the first time. 1
A J Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I thank mountain biking for introducing me to morphine !! 2
betty boop Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I remember once a friend of mine some years ago trying to chat up a girl and mentioned that he mountain bikes and trail bikes down hills and cliffs...to that her response was oh you have fatal hobbies ? and briskly floated away obviously not something that impresses the chicks hehe :O anyways hats off to you guys who do it. I saw one of those famous places at napa valley that mountain bikers challenge them selves, looking at it wow all can say takes some kahunas to be going down something like that at speed !

Guest Peter the Greek Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 There is a newish (opened early this year) track across the road from my place. To date, to my knowledge, we've had 1 death (heart attack), about a dozen broken legs, and probably the same arms/wrists.... ....I dont have what I'd call "peddle" fitness nor a suitable bike, but it looks like fun (not the "black" run though)
