mondie Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Always been a big fan of the J's going back to my teens so this could be an interesting move by JJJ. I like listening to it as often as I can to this day, I enjoy the wide variety of new music and heavy Oz content. The DJ's let is down somewhat. Hopefully the new rejigged DIG station is also made available for streaming http://www.theage.com.au/entertainment/music/triple-j-is-digging-a-digital-evolution-20131024-2w3ud.html 1
Luc Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Just read that article, I actually liked DigRadio and have come across a bit of music that I hadn't heard before and more to the point...actually liked. Been a long time since I seriously listened to JJJ in fact it was double jay last time I took a keen interest in it. Will watch/listen with interest. 2
LogicprObe Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 DIG always played better stuff than JJJ. JJJ's focus on 'young peoples' music mean they play a lot of crap and their presenters are usually puerile. This was not the case with JJ when it was pretty much all about the music. 2
mondie Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 I am too young to know JJ However I do know once of its founders. You two must have been some of DIG's few listeners...
LogicprObe Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I rarely listen to music on the radio or on line..............but when I do........it is DIG. They have have some good music specials too.
New Sensations Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I prefer car alarm techno to car ad folk. 1
shaky Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Like you mondie I have listened to Triple J since I was a young fella, having gotten sick of the 'one song, then 10 ads, and repeat' style of commercial station also available. I still listen to it every day, 20 odd years later. I've been introduced to countless styles of music and artists I would never have encountered otherwise, if still listening to those other commercial promoting stations. Yes, triple j is a youth based station, but also promoting Australian music like no other does, and I see for that 'youth' angle some not so youths may be put off it. So taking over dig which seems to be more 'oldies but goodies' for a newer generation (while still supporting new and upcoming Aussie artists) will provide some a choice of station perfect to them. I know I will be taking a listen.
hochopeper Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 (edited) My favorite online radio is Andrew Haug for rock/metal but this new Dig sounds like its worth a shot. If I'm in the car and searching for something FM its normally a choice between triplej and triple m (if there's something interesting going on in sport land) Edited October 24, 2013 by hochopeper
Big Valven Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I wish DIG was available on DAB... And that DAB had anywhere near the bit rate of DIG on TV...
Guest Muon Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Interesting, I wonder if I will like the change. Only radio I have are those two ABC ones on digital free to air, if ever I listen, I switch between DIG and the Jazz one depending on what is playing at the time.
