Anybody else grow up with this short lived series? Anybody know how long it ran?

I watched this as a lad with my dad growing up, used to love it.

Started watching episodes the other night, and while now... the plots and how they play out seem silly on some levels, I'm enjoying it all the same :)

Edit: hotted up jeeps with machine guns mounted, what's not to like.

Loved all the old War Shows and yes indeed I use to watch RP - I never liked the lead actor but I watched anyway.. Fast Jeeps leaping sand dunes and blowing up the enemy while out running tanks etc, what more could you ask for?

My dad used to laugh himself silly that the jeeps did not get blown to smithereens in the first few minutes of each show. He fought on the Russian front and knew the life span of silly vehicles like that.

But I used to enjoy it.

Same here, I watched it as a kid and I too didn't like the smirking lead Yank actor but it was a war show and I loved war shows and I used to buy those war comics as well...remember them?

Edit: I learnt my German from them! "Gott in himmel! Achtung! Englander halt! Swinehund!...haha

You need to practice the haha a bit more to get it right, but the encouragement award goes to you.

LOL....there had to be some here :)

Yeah, not accurate, but fun!

I have been reading a little about if after googling for that pic, and apparently on location a Jeep overturned onto our beloved Sargent, and in later years contributed to his passing unfortunately.

He was a vet of the Korean war and choose to wear that hat to honer Australian diggers, but the fact it was really a South African hat with the Aussie rising sun insignia worn too high... pissed off some of out diggers.

There was other interesting bits...

I remember articles regarding the hat in the paper at the time! You are quite correct.

'wiki' is correct, stranger things have happened ;)

I'm sure it was very much known at the time, but as a young lad I was oblivious to it, I even viewed RP as accurate LOL. Oh what a naive child I was. At least I had busted the Santa conspiracy by that stage!

Aww, geez I love it when you old codgers get together and reminisce..the clarity of memory undiluted by time...dead set I'd give up my seat for you on a tram or a train and help you with the groceries into the back of the urban fourbie...
