Guest yamaha_man Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I have a sleeve that slips over the motor spindle, think it costs around $50.00
tesla13BMW Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Decibel HiFi supplied me a sleeve as described above.
caddisgeek Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 buy a TT that does everything you need it to out of the box?

Gordon Macfarlane Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Make sure to get another belt as per Linn's 'suggestion', David, if you plan to play 45's often.

caddisgeek Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I press a button This thread should have been titled "New Linnie desperate to throw good money after bad, needs help emptying his wallet" 1
Monty Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Make sure to get another belt as per Linn's 'suggestion', David, if you plan to play 45's often. For best sound does he have to self-flagellate with the 33 belt while swapping over? I press a button This thread should have been titled "New Linnie desperate to throw good money after bad, needs help emptying his wallet" What will it take for him to beg return of that Technics?
caddisgeek Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Couple of mouthfuls of humble pie maybe Monty
djb Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 How did I do that? How did I do that? Bloody hell if those (other) trolls find this I'm rooted
Telecine Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 For best sound does he have to self-flagellate with the 33 belt while swapping over? Not entirely necessary but desirable in djb's case. He should be punished and often, even if it is self-administered.

andyr Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Make sure to get another belt as per Linn's 'suggestion', David, if you plan to play 45's often. I think he does it with a newly-purchased speed-change device - not a different pulley, Gordon. Andy
ThirdDrawerDown Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 "New Linnie desperate to throw good money after bad, needs help emptying his wallet" !!
Gordon Macfarlane Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 I think he does it with a newly-purchased speed-change device - not a different pulley, Gordon. Andy I thought David was using the adaptor I gave Flemo ? David , the extra belt is used so that the normal(33rpm) belt doesn't get stretched. Both belts are the same size etc.
djb Posted October 31, 2013 Author Posted October 31, 2013 Thank you for your clear reasoned articulate generous approach Gordon and Flemo I can't say the same for all who've posted here
Peter_F Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Flemo It arrived willcenjoybtomorrow Excellent!
djb Posted November 1, 2013 Author Posted November 1, 2013 Ozcal Gordon now I see yhe adaptor it makes sense re second belt Adaptor will stretch belt too far Now I take off platter ? Just go do it David! AHH very clever device WORKS Picked up Spandau Ballet "Instinction" last week thinking it was an LP as you /I do Gordon will only play a few and get second belt next week 1
djb Posted November 1, 2013 Author Posted November 1, 2013 Wonder if this will fit any other TT s in my herd?
evil c Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Herd? - what breeds are we talking about here - hybrids. freaks, straight up
djb Posted November 1, 2013 Author Posted November 1, 2013 (edited) Some of all those and more Edited November 1, 2013 by djb

Both belts are the same size etc. Aah, sorry Gordon, David - haven't you received your 33/45 speed controller thingy yet? BTW - that's the "only way to fly" IMO. Absof'inglutely no way am I going to change the pulley on the motor, to change from 33rpm to 45rpm. That's 70s technology! Regards, Andy
djb Posted November 1, 2013 Author Posted November 1, 2013 (edited) Confused!? Djb shrinks into his natural state of shyness 1 Flemo very kindly gave me an adaptor that had been gifted to him I now think by Gordon I hope it didn't really belong in TelecineAndyr horde! It slips over the motor "capstan" takes 60 secs to fit Is this the 70s technology of which Andy speaks? OR is he suggesting, like the Linnie he really is, and like tele who aspires to "family" membership- that I need a Hercule Moses power supply at $450 to do the same thingy? OR is there yet another alternative? There's always another alternative Watch for Caddisgeek (did you know it's the water bug he studied for his PHD?) who will tell me to get rid of the TT even though he likes it! OHH dear I was keeping so professional on this thread but I begin to digress .... Edited November 1, 2013 by djb
