cafe67 Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Hence the Morley shop seems to be having a bit of sale, don't seem to be advertising it, but I think they are open to offers/selling as much as possible so they don't have to move it. No affiliation with shop, just posted for info 1
wolster Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Not sure about the logic of the move. They are well established in a good consumer catchment area.
cafe67 Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Been there for a long time, bit of bugger to get into and not much parking ???
Guest myrantz Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 there's always parking there for me.. But I seldom go there coz the place seems so dark and ominous.. lol.. The sight of the Mercs and the BMWs is also not a good look IMO . Kindda wish they move to that Conventry Sq instead though, with the records store there (seems to be doing well), and big shop fronts maybe they get more foot traffic in (and more foot traffic means more potential customers)... And I go there weekly for grocery shopping so the Mrs can shop for veggies/meat while I see what's on offer in hifi. I'm guessing the rents are too high so hopefully a move to malaga will work out.. Malaga, like the current Morley place means f all foot traffic. Hifi business must be hard, their existing model of operation don't quite work in today's age.. So hopefully the malaga move will work out to be a positive.. All the best to them..
AccuTidal Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 (edited) I've been there on several occasions when first got into hifi, foolishly killed nearly $10k in Yamaha setup and now junks in my shed. Glen is very friendly and good customer service if he sees your genuine purchase intention in the showroom. Otherwise, you are there by yourself undisturbed til the door shows you the way out. Upfront myrantz is right, they should have revised their business model. Online markets are killing most retailers let alone the uncompetitive asking price from Morley Hifi, and now is Westcoast Hifi. Edited October 24, 2013 by 24Bits
WhakPak Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 I rarely go into a hifi store. When I do I usually find too much stuff on the shelves which makes me wonder how they can afford keeping it all: they probably need to buy it all upfront and get nothing "gratis" from distributors for demo purpose. And nothing is ever setup properly for audition, I have never had an in-store demo that has convinced me to buy anything. The business must be tough, no wonder prices on many things are high in relation to other markets, there has to be a better way.
