Damhooligan Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 (edited) I have been fiddling with my set-up , and learned a lot along the way.But one thing i'm not getting. Jriver is recognising every single track from pc as 44.1khz.I have a variety of different bitrates, but according to the audiopath, the input is always the same, 44.1 kHz.It recognises the differences between mp3/wav/flac, but it's always 44.1khzThis I don't understand.I have different bitrates, why doesn't jriver recognise them as such ?wich means if I play different tracks of different bit rates, the incoming sample rate on the dacmagic never changes.I have played with the output settings. But it's either all songs on 44.1.Or if I set the settings of output to 192, everything is consistant 192. Wich setting do I have to change so the dacmagic shows the actual sample rate? Edited October 22, 2013 by Damhooligan
Scratcher Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Hi Damhooligan, From memory I think you just right click in the output settings box and choose "no change" for everything. Hope that helps. Cheers Liam
Damhooligan Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 Thanks for the reply Liam. I tried that before but then every track is output of 44.1 So i don't think the answer is in the output settings but in the input settings Seeing jriver recognises every track as 44.1 input.
Marsy Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Hope you don't mind my tagging along on your thread Damhooligan but I have a similar problem with my MediaMonkey/m-dac setup (although I suspect the true problem is me). It doesn't seem to matter what file I play the m-dac is telling me it is 16/44.1. I'm using its usb input so I know it's limited to 24/96 but I've never seen it displayed. I've played with MediaMonkeys settings and its outpit is set at 24bits. Can anyone offer a clue as to my incompetence?
Scratcher Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Maybe you should check your windows settings in sound output device properties?
Satanica Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 What version of Windows are you running? If you go to Tool ---> Options ---> Audio Device what is selected?
Marsy Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I'm running Vista Professional (I know - a new computer is in order). My output is set to the m-dac. I'll fiddle a bit more and report back.
Damhooligan Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 What version of Windows are you running? If you go to Tool ---> Options ---> Audio Device what is selected? im running windows 7 ultimate. The dac is working properly, and is selected via JR.
Damhooligan Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Maybe you should check your windows settings in sound output device properties? Done that too. Seems to be set in the right settings
Satanica Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 im running windows 7 ultimate. The dac is working properly, and is selected via JR. And next to it does it, what does it say, something like ASIO, WASAPI, Direct Sound?
Damhooligan Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 I have selected asio. I have played with the others as well. But none seem to be better then the other
Satanica Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Have you got the "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" checked in your windows sound settings?
Damhooligan Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 Yep. Sure do. The dac is doing what is supposed to. It's jriver that reads every track as 44.1.

I don't think this is true, or it would be happening all over the world right now including for me, which it doesn't. Maybe try using WASAPI again. 1

Maybe try using WASAPI again. Fair point. The settings made no difference. I did download a test file , http://www.linnrecords.com/linn-downloads-testfiles.aspx And when playing that, jriver recognises it being 192khz, and so does the dac. So I can only conclude that the flac files I have on my pc are not 192khz. (note: these files where downloaded from the net, and not created by myself) I also played the test file in asio, and the results are the same. Also for kernel streaming. (recommended by dacmagic), same results. 1
