Now that the COVID threat has passed, I'm wondering if there are any other SNers on the Central Coast NSW (or near enough to want to make the journey) who would be interested in meeting up on a semi-regular basis to share music on our hifi systems and discuss our hifi journeys, gear, and other real life topics?

I don't know why anyone should bother posting to StereoNet anything like this because they are always shifted to the arse-end of this site where no one sees it...

Thanks, for the like, Marc, but isn't there more you can do to encourage more interaction in real life? What about letting us post in the more popular parts of the site so it gets some attention and move it to this godforsaken corner of the site after a fortnight?

I promise you that more interaction in real life will lead to more posts on the site!

I didn't actually move your thread - I am not the only person that curates and manages this site and forums, of course.

Publicly posted GTGs are just not as popular post-COVID, and that's a fact (many are organised privately via PM though). That said, GTGs go in the "GTG forum" - a dedicated place where those interested can find that info.

It's here with all the other GTG threads where it belongs. They'd be lost (and off-topic) in the hi-fi and home cinema forums. Other threads of a similar nature have many hundreds, if not thousands of views.

The WA GTG thread posted 1 month ago has over 450 views.

The North QLD GTG Thread has over 6.000 views:

So I think this section of the site is working just fine.

Thanks, Marc, for the response!

I know you didn't move my thread.

I agree that GTGs are struggling in popularity while we try to shake off the hermit-like existence COVID has taught us but doesn't that make it necessary to give us all a kick up the arse?!

My problem with the GTG section is that you might pop in there once to see if there is anything in your area and find there was nothing going on (unless you are in Queensland and WA, by the look of things!) and never come back. Someone will see my post is months old without any response and confirm that there is no point coming back.

I don't know what we can do, but I'm really trying to be constructive! What about a sticky with the question - Want to meet up with fellow SNAers, which extols the virtues of getting out of your own listening room and meeting other audio kooks (maybe include some feedback from the QLD/WA groups?) and then a link to the GTG section?

In that case it would seem that there is a notable lack of interest.

Sorry, I'm probably jaded on this one. The last GTG I hosted, I had items stolen from my home, while others have moved to organising GTGs via PM with known members for reasons I assume are similar. I guess it worked when the website was smaller and the community more close-knit. Now, we have less control over who is reading.

Yeah I get what you're talking about!

Believe Covid did knock people's confidence in mixing, primarily in the Southern State(s).

I've complained about it before, with as Marc mentioned many going more underground and private!

Best way to get the ball rolling, is to hold a GTG yourself,  plenty of top blokes around Sydney you could invite and sure they'll reciprocate.  😉

Pity you're not down here in Melbourne, as you'd be welcome to come along to one of my GTGS.

Alternatively, you have the Sydney Audio Club - sure a few members would also be  here on SNA. 😊

I’vegone to a few @evil c’s place. I always end up leaving something there rather than stealing something. There’s always next time 😉

I have it on good authority that ZM has never frisked anyone without prior written consent. This does not include the 60s….. well….  The 60s…. C’mon.

Thanks, a lot, for the support, guys! I would like to announce a GTG but the lack of response to the first post suggested to me there was little point. However, you've given me a boost of enthusiasm so I'll look up the Sydney Audio Club as a first step.
