metal beat Posted July 30, 2016 Author Posted July 30, 2016 (edited) That would have been awesome, shane! good on ya for getting there. effects on the piano? Hi James. Was very enjoyable and now know a little more depth into the musical world of the quiet man. Even John was very surprised and pleased about the comeback of vinyl as he knew the first 3 Ultravox albums and Cathedral Oceans was being issued on vinyl in the next month or so. As was Brian Richie from the Violent Femmes. I did not recognise him at first- doh. Brian is the musical curator of MONA as he lives in Hobart. I promised him I would buy the new Femmes album on vinyl after all my fanboi frothing over J Foxx. Yea the piano had some sort of slight treatment happening. Very cool museum is MONA. metal beat Posted August 23, 2016 Author Posted August 23, 2016 (edited) @@Metamatic University of south australia on you tube thanks cafe Nice to hear from Mr Foxx again. This covered about 70% of what he spoke about live, but with a few things he did not discuss which was good. He went into a more detail and told a few more stories live. He has a nice perspective of his legacy. I really love how when he formed the band, he was not good enough so he invented John Foxx as he was so much better than himself the quiet man in the grey suit Edited August 23, 2016 by Metamatic
mondie Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 I have watched a few interview clips of his over recent months and are struck by how humble he is. Still discovering his catalogue....
metal beat Posted August 23, 2016 Author Posted August 23, 2016 I have met him a couple of times now and he has taken the time to talk to me, for 5 minutes this time. He really seems to be a genuine English gentleman. have a watch of this interview when you have the time - its excellent 1

Do I or dont I ............ Hi Mondie Yes, mine is in transit as we speak. Check out Juno - Its 79 quid. remember, this is John's ambient music. If you don't have these two albums, this is a bargin and they are super Interplay/The Shape Of Things https://www.amazon.co.uk/Interplay-Shape-Things-VINYL-Maths/dp/B00J3D33F4/ref=sr_1_6?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1472852748&sr=1-6&keywords=john+foxx
mondie Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 I see the set at £95 on Juno, guess you are quoting ex VAT. Thanks for the link, that is a good buy, will do some listening

I guess Juno is smart enough to know I am from overseas/Australia as that is the price I see - 79.16. amazon uk the cheapest then. to start, just buy the double pack Mondie - Its brilliant. Cathedral Ocean's is brilliant as well, but in his angular Cathedral ambient way - mesmerising and soothing if you like it Edited September 3, 2016 by Metamatic 1
metal beat Posted September 8, 2016 Author Posted September 8, 2016 The Cathedral Oceans vinyl box set arrived today. WOW. absolutely amazing. vinyl pressing is good and sound quality excellent. It is designed it as a coffee table book with photo quality images, words and the 5 lp's as part of the book. Overall the best album/ box set design I have bought. 3
mondie Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Thanks for the pics Shane, I am still holding off on this. Is the vinyl quiet as its the kind of music where a black background is a must?
